Instructions for dealer pre-delivery
OK, the day is almost here. What do you guys recommend I tell the dealer as far as wash/prep? I keep hearing about swirls and fine scratches in the paint from the dealer...

If your dealer is close by, pick a day and visit your dealer and check out the cars they will deliver that day.
My car was flawless when I picked it up. |

I was very happy with my dealer. I had looked at a few cars in the delivery area before and they looked very good. The only think they did that pissed me off was put a fucking sticker on my trunk!!! Luckily I got it off okay. Make sure you tell them no stupid stickers!!!

Yeah, I told my CA no stickers/badges and no front tag holder. He actually said they never put stickers or front tags on any of their cars, only a rear holder with their name on it (BMW of Nashville).

My car came with wax all over the cracks and crevices of the vehicle. It was a pretty shoddy job.
I also asked that the front plate bracket not be mounted, but they couldn't come through on it. Thank god that CA dealerships don't put stickers on cars!

my 1 also had a really crappy wax job... white residue in all the crevices, what a pain.
so i learned for next time: no wax! (that's if you can afford to go spend a couple days right away waxing, since i wouldn't leave it outside w/o wax) |

Put it in writing. Email is fine, without seeming conspicuous that you are putting it in writing. I wish I had done a better job of this, because I had front plates mounted despite my CA confirming no front plates every single time we spoke, and right up until the time the CA walked up and said "there aren't supposed to be front plates on this car!"
If they do screw up, tell the finance guy you want it in writing that they will fix the front bumper. This I did do. They have a special little form they fill out and it becomes part of the sales agreement.
