Key fob plastic trim replacement?
I couldn’t find anything on search, but does anyone know if I can order a replacement? Mine broke off and it’s lost. Key works fine.

I have the exact same issue with one of the key fobs delivered with my CPO 2021 X5 M50i. I didn't discover it until later because that fob was not being used. I went to change batteries in both fobs and discovered the one without the plastic /// colored strip had dust inside. It's the first time that I noticed the missing part. I went over to the dealer and had them look up replacement parts and the parts counter guy showed me the diagram of the 2021 key fob parts. Bottom line: this plastic strip is not available separately from BMW. He suggested buying a key fob case but for now I've simply put the key into a small Ziploc bag for protection, since I don't use that fob.
I have no idea how that plastic part can come off. I've tried prying it from my good fob and it won't come off easily and I didn't want to break anything. Perhaps the fob was dropped by the prior owner and the plastic strip broke off then. Good luck! |
