Brake fluid schedule

I have 2022 X5 s40i with 20k miles reaching 3years mark in Jan.

BMW app shows Brake fluid to be changed at 3 year mark. Not sure if this will be covered in 3yr warranty so wanted to get input if this is needed with low mileage on the car?

how often is everyone getting this changed? follow what the car says?

TIA

Yep, get it changed every 3 years. Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, as it's not a sealed system. OK, ok...I'm sure you could stretch it to 4 or even 5 years if you don't intend to keep the car long-term and don't plan to do top-speed runs on the Autobahn. But moisture in the brake fluid will eventually lead to corrosion in the brake system, and will definitely lower the boiling point of the fluid.

I change my brake fluid every 3 years on all my cars, except the one that gets tracked regularly...that one gets changed at least once a year, and often twice a year if there are more than 4 DE days planned.

BMW includes the brake fluid change at the 36 month mark.

Thanks. Will follow the 3 year maintenance then.

BMW X5 brake issues

Hi,
I am having issues with my 2020 X5 after I tried to flush the brake fluid. As a result, half the braking system is deactivated and I have a brake warning showing on the dash. any thoughts on that?

My guess is that you've introduced air into the system. If this X5 is anything like my '22 Cooper or '20 X1, the car has to be perfectly level in order to effectively flush the brake fluid without introducing air when bleeding the front wheels. If in doubt, I'd take it to the dealer or independent and let them do a full fluid flush for you. Or, if you want to try it again yourself, follow this advice from my changes on my other BMW/Mini's: on the right-front wheel, don’t let brake fluid level fall below about 2/3rd of full level in the reservoir (way more than half!). I'm only at 25K miles on my X5, so I haven't flushed the fluid yet - but I'm going to follow the lessons above.
