Correct Braking Technique?

Was flipping through a book on high performance/track driving this morning, and they emphasized having your heel planted on the floor and pivoting on your heel to apply pressure during braking. I had never heard/seen this before -- is this correct technique?

Do what makes you go faster Most of the time its breaking after you see the "light".

Ditto, do what feels best as ultimately everyone has different feet/legs. It gets even more complex when trying to heel'n'toe (blip the throttle) on downshifts. Some people can do with their heel, whilst others can't move their legs like that and instead roll their foot onto the accelerator pedal.

Once I get to threshold, I have my heel on the floor and make fine-tuning modulations by rotating it. It's much more precise, as opposed to having your heel off the ground and modulating brake pressure with your whole leg. In that sense the book is correct.

I do move my heel when I go from the gas to the brake and back, though. So my heel is not always planted.
