S68 X5Mc Tune Capabilities
Thoughts and opinions on JB4 Dyno Tune and RK Catless Downpipes and Eventuri Intake install for my 2025 X5Mc with less than 10,000 Miles. Already have catback Fi Exhaust
Are there any whp output numbers with these bolt ons tuned? Any concerns with piggy back tunes for S68? Should i be worried about voiding my warranty this early with this s68 engine? Any 0-60 times for these added mods? Should i even do it? Very on edge and wanted some BMW veteran opinions to pursued me. I'm new to BMW, always had Audi's but their quality has dropped significantly. Thank you |

An actual tune is your best and safest bet as long as you have a sound tuner. If you don't want to send out both ECU's to get unlocked and then have someone tune it then I would suggest JB4 as that piggyback has the best capabilities to meet your power goals vs. Dinan or Racechip. The whole void warranty thing is tricky as if it IS indeed a factory defect, BMW will cover the replacement (I had a tune on my previous car with E50, etc. and need the entire head to be replaced... BMW found a defect in the head and replaced everything) 0-60 with a good JB4 / Downpipes, Etc. should be ~3.0 I like the Audi/VW group tuning options better because you have a lot of good companies to choose from (APR, IE, etc.) that don't require to send an ECU and is tried and true tuning hours into the platform.

My advice, fwiw, max out using the stock performance using whatever parameters you choose- 1/4 mile, 0-60, Gs pulled... then decide if you want anything additional- HP, torque, braking Gs, acceleration Gs, cornering Gs

Thanks for the info fellas, really helpful in deciding whether I JB4 tune and add downpipes to my 2025 X5m cs with 3000miles.
Been really trying to gauge whether or not to do it due to any unforeseen issues that might surface. But with the information i've received from numerous forum post, the s68 engine is very robust and won't have issues that i should be concerned with. I'ma just chalk up the money and get those RK Catless race downpipes, and enenturi black carbon intake system in + JB4 dyno tune. |

The dmes are locked on these newer generations of BMWs. The only company who’s able to unlock them as of today is in Finland and fetmo is the name of the company. Many of bmw owners especially the m3 owners have gone through the process to remove the dmes (x5m has 2) and send them to femto for them to unlock and send back to owner. My understanding the fee they charge is somewhere around 1500 per dme. So for this car would be 3k plus the risk of losing dmes during transit or any other possibilities to go wrong. Turn around time for US is around 10 days or so. Only with them unlocked you are able to install flash tunes. I personally would not go through the process because of the risk factor though a proper tune is enticing. Instead, I live with plug in piggyback tune. It has it’s limitations but it’s enough for me
