X5 Model Choice Help

Hi,

I have been test driving the X5’s a couple of times the last couple of weeks (I’m in Australia) so driven the 30d, 40i but in the X6 to get the petrol engine feel difference and the M60.

I honestly love them all differently which is making my decision harder.

Initially I was going to order a custom spec 30d so it had everything I want, however the more I think and read and watch reviews I’m wondering if I should jump up to the M60 as I would love the v8 experience?

Seems locally I could get demo one (very well priced 2000km’s) which is without one thing specifically I’d prefer to have if choosing on options definite must which is the merino seats, for me I find (being a bigger guy) the Verino seats nowhere near as comfy as the Merino, which is a bummer, however I am seeing locally M60’s going for slightly less again on price (closer to fully optioned 30d) with less than 10-15 thousand Km’s with specs I’d prefer.

If I was to go a 2023 M60 with Km’s similar to the above what would any concerns I should consider given it’s been driven for 12-18months? Would brakes? As I believe replacement brakes to be quite expensive.

I’m currently in a 2022 Touareg R Line so it is fully spec’ed with mod cons including more comfortable leather seats than the BMW Verino.

Wiggs024, another perspective on the question of what vehicle to buy.

Every car comes with "pay to play" factor. If V8 experience is important (one could say that there is no replacement for displacement), then the maintenance costs are part of the picture.

One of my friends has a McLaren and is disappointed with the cost of oil changes.

I really like the 'pay to play' expression. We see this A LOT here. People driving $100k cars who are really sweating repair and upkeep costs, and I think they would be more comfortable in a Rav4.

M60i hauls like a fat bat out of hell. We looked into the 40i and 50e and they both just felt like they were missing something. Very nice cars but we ultimately bought an M60i and haven't looked back.

Hauls like a bat from the suburbs of hell and through hell downtown may be more accurate. Have X6 M60 on order for the same reasons.

I think part of it is also that people (like me) feel like more money should be more better, then they get here and people are like "oh yeah my new car needs all this expensive service" and are like "wtf my much less expensive cuz brand never needed that". Then they hear people be like "I had a friend who kept his BMW out of warranty once, he's declared bankruptcy and is working on rebuilding his life".

With stuff like that it's pretty easy to be terrified of these cars lol.

I don’t disagree with your comments and realise this it it more about making an informed decision.

I should have articulated it better, I was referring to if I am to purchase a M60i with 10-15 thousand KM’s where I’m saving on purchase price am I closer to looking and markedly sooner to having to do costly maintenance work?
