Pictures of tints

Does anyone have pictures they can share of their windshield 35% and 50% on their x5. Thank you!

I would think very few people go that dark. Usually folks will do 70 or 80 on the windshield.

I had 35% done a month ago but there was low angle haze (lah) due to a bad roll. The installer used 3M including the rest of the windows. They redid the wimchsiled but I had them take it off again 3 weeks later. Even the lah was gone, I can tell it wasn’t as clear as it was without the tint. I’m in south Florida and can feel the difference with not having it.

I may get it done again eventually since previous cars had it without issue. If I do it again, I’ll go to a different shop that uses Xpel.

This is my model Y performance with 20% on the side windows and 35% on the windshield I figured because the interior is white and the whole roof is glass. It would allow more light in and I can go slightly darker and honestly it’s not that bad maybe when it’s raining and it’s night time the side mirrors are hard to see, but I never have a problem with the windshield. I am afraid if I do 35% on the BMW windshield because the interior will be dark brown. It will appear darker than my Tesla possibly. But I think 50% might be too light for my liking. The sides will deff be 20% but I’m unsure what to do with the windshield.

I've always done 50% on windshield and 70-80% on the sunroof. It's hard for me drive a car without a tinted windshield, as i prefer to not wear sunglasses when driving.

I have Xpel XR Black 55% windshield and 20% on front windows. Looks amazing and love the heat rejection.

tint questions (no new topic)

I don't know much about today's tint quality and am thinking about doing the front two windows to match the rest....I last tinted windows in the early 90's as a profession, I just don't know what products hold up these days as there are more options.

So, if I just wanted less heat in the car, could I go with 100% clear ceramic/UV protection most all windows to keep the car cooler during summer temps and to change the amount of light transferred?

I'd still do 20-30% tint on the driver/passenger side to get close to a match on those, but use clear "protection" for all other windows.

I'm going to order a custom x5 in the next month or so and just doing some homework. If I ask the dealer to install tint, would they do it and what product would they use?

Thanks in advance, KVB

Your best bet would be to avoid the dealer and check out installers in your area. Many folks use Xpel but there are quite a few good brands out there.

Dealers typically adhere strictly to state tinting laws. Personally, I prefer finding a reputable tint shop, discuss my needs, and proceeding from there. This way, you get exactly what you want at a lower cost than the dealer, who often marks up the price.

Tinting the windshield is the dumbest thing you can do. Like it's "I don't use a seatbelt because I don't like it" level stupid.

You can absolutely get 100% clear ceramic film, and putting that on the windshield is a much better idea. Otherwise, get a pair of sunglasses and/or a sunshade.
