25 Days and Then Some - 2025 X5 50e - Pictures and Thoughts
Ordered ours in Maryland back in October and it was delivered in November 2024. I posted that it took 25 days to arrive. Amazing!
https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2148818 I had all the windows including the windshield tinted with xpel and PPF done on the headlights. Then had it shipped west in December. We caught up to it in mid-January and since then have been enjoying it. Fantastic vehicle. Thought I'd post some random pictures and give some thoughts. First up when it was back in MD in a full garage, lined up by height. Last edited by NbyNW; 03-13-2025 at 04:25 PM.. |

Filling up both tanks. We're only using the 110v charger for now and with the ICE as a backup it works fine. No plans to go for a Level 2 charger.

The Badlands in the snow. So different than in the summer. Really good visit and fantastic to do some photography with the snow.
Assist Plus is fantastic. Lane changes are a little more abrupt than I like but it works well. Using it the other day I think it changed lanes on its own to pass or return to the right lane after passing. I was reaching for the signal stalk and it did it before I touched it (I think?). My last BMW was an e39 M5. Think it was anthracite. Beautiful blue-ish color and what a fun car. Before that was an e39 540 sport, 6 speed, one of the best cars I've owned. Also had various 3s and a 740 back then. Loved the 7 for highway time.
I have to say this X5 with 483 HP is a blast to drive on these open curvy roads in the Black Hills. It's still new and I'm breaking it in slowly, but even in electric mode it's plenty peppy, and off the line is fun. Good stuff. |

O2 Sensor
Now for an issue I'm having with the X5. It lives inside, garaged, so in the 30s(F) minimum. Running errands when cold - it gets cold here, -5F one day when running around. Out of a store, go to Sport mode for the ICE and CEL pops on. All related to the O2 sensor. P0131, P2243, and P2251.
Anyone else? Dealer is not close. I've cleared them twice now. Not sure if related to the cold. Amazingly, the O2 sensor is fairly easy to reach on the exhaust on the right side of the motor and its connector is right above it. If it keeps happening maybe I'll replace the O2 sensor. |

Another weekend trip this time into Wyoming. Good to get out. And it threw another CEL for the O2 sensor.
I did some minor edits so the X5 showed up better, in some light the black shows with no details and it's just a black blob. Incredible scenery and open roads. |

Beautiful pictures. Whoever took those pictures has a great eye for photography and a beautiful ride to get them to the target. My wife and I flew out west with the family a few years ago. We drove Grand Canyon to Yellowstone. We weren’t quite close enough to afford the time to get to Mount Rushmore. I was on the other side when my son and I went to Nebraska. Again, time didn’t allow the extra miles. Maybe one day I can cross that off my list.
Your pictures brought back memories. Thank You. |

And I love photography. I’ve been taking pictures a long time. On our TVs we have our Apple TV’s screen saver set to various albums that we update so they cycle pictures randomly. And we have a dedicated tv in our kitchen that only cycles pictures like this. Fun for memories! |

Fort Robinson State Park, NE
Nebraska this time. Fort Robinson State Park, Nebraska.
We kind of knew about it but had not been there before, just somewhere to visit when we got a chance. We were expecting a run-down fort, some foundations, and a few restored buildings. This was nothing of the sort... it was a top notch facility, with all former military barracks and housing available for stays, horse facilities, hiking, jeep tours, etc. Everything was very well maintained and very nice. Lot of history here. It was windy, as always, and we were the only ones there, they had one camp ground open and no campers that we saw. Most buildings were closed for the winter and they were gearing up for the new season. Nice drive there and back north to the Black Hills. Took a more scenic route north through the Oglala National Grasslands, no one around, minimal traffic, if any, there and back. https://outdoornebraska.gov/location/fort-robinson/ Last edited by NbyNW; 03-25-2025 at 04:34 PM.. |

Our last outing before heading east in April. We went back to Custer State Park. Beautiful place and this was in early April. The X5 is sitting in the garage until we get back west later this summer. Such a nice vehicle.
Elk, pronghorn, buffalo, Mountain Bluebird, Red-headed Woodpecker (from another visit to the park, but a good picture), American Kestrel (pretty far away so not a great picture, still good to see it), and an X5 in the wild. Last edited by NbyNW; 05-07-2025 at 07:26 AM.. Reason: Bird name. |

I missed the picture of Mrs. Mountain Bluebird. The two were together going from fence post to fence post between dives to the grass for insect treats.
