2027 X5 G65 Spied
What in the world is going on at BMW. First the 2026 3 Series with the Neue Klasse platform and now the spied 2027 X5 G65 which also has the Neue Klasse design elements. BMW is going into the gutter if they continue down this design path and I cannot be the only one who thinks so. What are your thoughts?

Add some flared wheel arches and some spacers on those wheel hubs and I think this can look good.

Is that an individual color? And I'm always amazed at how we humans detest change even when we have not seen the actual product. Personally I could not make a like or dislike judgement from the spy photos I've seen. Wait and see.....wait and see. I cannot bash something based on this photo.

I'll reserve judgment until I see the unmasked production version.

I will wait and see the final product but if it is anything close to their current path I am out.
BMW has done their best to completely take them off any consideration on my next $120k+ auto purchase. They seem to continue down a direction that pushes them father away with each move. That is sad considering I am not a price point buyer and really love the BMW ride/design of the 2018-2020s but will easily go back to my VAG vehicles I have owned for decades. This is what turned me off of BMW during the Bangle years of BMW inconsistent style language. BMW just has lost their identity or maybe their priorities are so far away from what I look for in a luxury vehicle that I see very little common ground with any recent interior and exterior designs. I love my white elephant fully optioned X7M50i but if it got totaled I am going strait to a Cayenne GTS or RS6 for a luxury/performance trip vehicle. I would rather pay up and buy a vehicle I actually am excited to look at and drive than to settle for a vehicle I might be able to grow to like. |

I'm in maybe the minority...I get into my vehicle in my garage, so can't really see it, and can't really view the exterior while driving...if it drives nice, I could really care less what it looks like outside. I want a reliable, fun to drive vehicle that doesn't assault me from the inside and is comfortable. As a result, don't really care about the wheel arch gap and must have larger wheels, etc. I'm not tracking it, so the extra potential traction would not get used.
But, whatever floats your boat. They purposely make viewing the details hard with the camouflage installed on the outside, and note that could include some false panels as well. time will tell. It will likely be at least another year before we see one naked in the field for testing. |

Where are the door handles? Love the wheels but BMW just cannot get away from some iteration of the "Y" spoke look.

They moved them to the top of the door at the window line. There's other spy shots where you see the front doors at this location.

From the spy shots we’ve seen, it doesn’t look like something that would appeal to my taste (which sounds ironic coming from someone who drives an X6).
I can get reluctantly get behind the exterior look of the G45 X3. The grille, lower fascia, and rear end are still very reminiscent of earlier 2018-2023 X3s and X5s. I think if they continued that design language to the 2027 X5, we might have some hope. I just don’t get the whole push towards the vertical grille and elongated headlights. I know all automakers have to start change somewhere, but it must be a select majority of people who see that and go “WOW” To me, that design makes something like the IX look increasingly more and more attractive.
