Hi All,

I’m excited to be writing this because I just received a production number and build slot for my wife’s new 2026 X5! This thread is mostly for my own documentation of the process but I figured some others may be interested in following along as well.

For some background on me, I’ve been a BMW fan for as long as I can remember, and I’m lucky to have an awesome, supportive wife who grew up with a dad very much like me—big into cars, especially BMW and Porsche. So she’s always understood my love and passion for them. I’m currently on my third and fourth BMWs (a 2018 M2 and a 2024 X1 M35i), and my wife is driving a 2018 X3 (xDrive30i M Sport, Alpine White over Cognac). We bought it CPO back in 2021, and while it's been a great car, we recently welcomed our first daughter, and the X3 is starting to feel a little tight for our growing family.

We’ve talked about upgrading to an X5 for a while now. Over time, we’ve talked about what she would want when we finally get her into an X5, so I know what she wants, doesn’t want, color choices and even what individual colors she would like if we ever did something crazy like that. So I quietly took all of that into account, put a build together, and finally got the ball rolling a few weeks ago.

As of now, my wife has no idea (so let’s keep it between us ) that I’ve placed an order for her—let alone that I pulled the trigger with an Individual color. I’m working with a broker for the first time, and the experience has been excellent so far, not to mention a great discount right off the bat. Since the dealer is out of state and transport would cost more than flights and a hotel, the plan is to do a Performance Center Delivery in South Carolina and make a little trip out of it.

When it comes time to sign paperwork and pull credit, I’ll finally let her know I ordered her an X5… but I’m keeping the Individual paint a surprise until we see it in person in SC.

While this won’t be my first time ordering and tracking a BMW, it will be my first time following a build from a US-based factory—so I’m looking forward to the learning experience.

I received my date for performance center delivery yesterday as 8/25. Unfortunately that would have been complicated to make work so they were able to move us to Friday 8/29. I received my confirmation email from the Performance Center and we booked hotels, flights, etc.

The BMW Garage website now shows status 112 (scheduled for production).

Genius line says that as of today my order was accepted... and that production week is now week 32 again. Back to status 111 in My Garage.

Genius line has confirmed they are seeing Performance Center as the destination.

Spoke to my dealer who is putting in for PCD and should have that confirmed in a few days. Also it looks like the price increase will affect my build. MSRP on the build sheet is now showing $1300 more than before.

Genius line confirmed that Week 29 is still accurate, but they say it now a confirmed week rather than estimate, so they don't think it would move around any more.

My Garage image updated and now seems to be showing the options, minus the color. In the details view, still only showing executive package but the Special Order Color looks different.

Using the F12 trick status is still 111, but the genius line says it is 112 (don't think this is accurate). They also informed me that build week is now pushed to week 32 (early August)

Status 111 - Seeing this status as of this morning using the F12 trick.

Spoke to the genius and the build week has now been pushed to Week 29. They mentioned that the 111 status shift happened at 330 PM yesterday.

04/02/2025 Update

Status 102 - Special Order (No Prod Week) - This definition comes from an online list I found. Not sure if this is accurate as I received a Build Week from BMW Genius yesterday. But it sounds like that production week may not be set in stone. Though I just noticed this today, I think it likely went from 111 to 102 when they put in for the individual paint last Friday.

From what I am told, it will likely stay in this status for around a months (more or less) before moving to a 111 or 112 status at which time the production week should be more accurate and solid.

So, the build week provided may be accurate or may be totally off, time will tell.

04/01/2025 Update

BMW Genius line says that my build week will be Week 23 (June 2-8), but I am not sure if this takes Individual paint into account.

They also mentioned that there should be no tariff to worry about on these since they are build in SC.

Will need to see if either of these ends up being true.

Special color requested and approved. It’s now showing as special color on My Garage.

Performance Center Delivery Requested.

I also received a notification that my order was received from the BMW App and via email.

03/26/2025 Update

Allocations became available today and my build was inputted into the system, other than the individual paint and the Performance Center destination. Those two should be updated in the next few days.

The X5 was added to the My BMW Garage automatically which is something that I have not seen in the past. I assume this is based on my email which they of course have. Previously you had to go in and add the vehicle to track with the production or VIN number manually.

Here’s a photo of how it’s showing in the tracker for now, in a basic form still missing most options.

I will follow you along as I have placed an individual order from the UK. We don't have tracking like you do, so I wouldn't be getting much of an update. I have been given an estimated delivery date of 10/26.

I had a MY24 in individual colour and it took over 5 months to deliver but I am hopeful I can get this one sooner.

At first I was like "violet"?? NO. Then I watched this video

and I can see the appeal. This is a pre LCI so I think the black front bumper accents will look amazing! Not for for me but I can see where this would be an attractive color. Like black, I like to look at other peoples black car especially when it's clean. I think cognac will go nicely with that color. You guys, especially your wife, are going to absolutely love your X5. Those wheels really set it off. Happy patience waiting and hopefully the unknown tarriffs don't impact the purchase agreement.

Oh wow. Interesting that they give you an estimate like that. From everything I’ve heard they basically retool the factory for a week to paint all the individual cars that have collected up to that point. But nothing is scheduled far ahead of time. I hope it’s quick!

Hopefully mine makes it into the same batch. Though I’m picking up across the street from the factory at the performance center, you’ll be waiting just a little longer for shipping!

I hear that! It’s not for everyone, honestly I’m not even 100%. But my wife loves the color and I love the heritage and history of the color from the e36 so hopefully it works out the way I’m hoping.

And thank you, really hoping they don’t impact, but at this point everything feels very up in the air and no one has any real answers or even really inclination as to what will actually happen.

I’m hopeful that confirmed, agreed upon orders will be protected but with the uncertainty of the production dates of individuals it will all depend how BMW handles it. And then how the dealerships do. Time till tell.

Bump for car being built and Performance Center Delivery scheduled for 8/29.

I plan to do another write up post about the delivery process. Should be a nice follow up to the last write up I did back in 2014 for my M235i. I did one for my M2 a few years ago as well but did not do a write up for that one as it was very similar. Enough has changed recently that I want to do another one.
