Not happy with MPH in 1/4 with JB3
Went to the track last night, first time with the 135i (definately not my first time at a track though).
I have a Jb3 and BMS Intake Ran 13.4 @ 105 all night. Even when i switched between high boost and low boost maps i ran the same times and same MPH. 60 ft was 2.2 on RFT. I though stock i should trap around 104/105? |

Whats your 1/8 mile mph?
Also, what elevation are you at? I wouldn't be to upset, there are to many variables at stake..(trake prep is a major one). Also, what shift points did you use? The stock RFT's are crap, I think traction is the reason your not seeing better results.

I was reading about MWERKS 135 project car. I was suprised to hear that they changed tires to Yokahama S-drive summers and found the grip decreased compared to the stock runflats. They said the runflats did a good job of getting traction off the line compared to the new tires. However, the ride quality was improved. Here's the link:

What was your boost? 1/8th mph? Any chance clutch was slipping? Where did you shift?

No clutch slippage, car felt great, took off well, track was slippery though (Lots of people having problems with their 60ft).
Im shifting at about 6500-6700 with the JB3 |

i posted your sstt vs. jb3 video on Terry's forum, and the guys were saying you shift really slowly. i stuck up for you though, because at least you drive your car. the guys talking shit just steer their stepslushbox's.
but the steps are geared highered and shift quickly and that's where we see the 110 mph trap speeds from. the serious 6mt dragracers all powershift.

The thing that interests me is that i got the same MPH and times in low boost and high boost.
I think im going to go back to a different track and record in car video of Stock, Low Boost and High boost and see what we can see. |

These are good shift points: 7k 1-->2, 6.5k 2-->3, 6.3k 3-->4.
Your shift points don't sound that far off. How fast is your shifting? I'd talk to terry and see what he says. How much boost were you reading on your boost gauge?

If the high boost and low boost is getting you the same mph, you might want to check to see if you are indeed changing the maps or if there is a problem with the unit.
MPH on the 1/4 is about the car. E.T. times is the driver. Granted slow shifting will affect your MPH, but not great greatly. The MPH does look like what a stock car does. |

I was trying to shift between 6K and 6.2K.
So, my understanding is that the shift points are determined by comparing the rpm/torque in the current and next gear. Of course, the only way to know that is to first have your car dyno'd. My question is, Do you think the shift point theory still holds if traction is such a big issue? I'm just wondering if maximizing the torque is really necessary at a certain point, and maybe there are overriding considerations. Has anybody tried to start in 2nd gear? Or what about going 1st, 2nd, 4th?
