135i vs Evo X What is faster?

Does anybody have any idea of which car would have more acceleration and be quicker? The evo has awd but the 135i gets torque at 1600. In terms of specs they are pretty similar as well. How does it compare to 135i? I basically want to know which car will be faster. Any info would be great.

This is also a really dumb comparison, since the tires are not comparable. The BMW comes with crappy runflats. I know a comparison should be stock to stock, but tires are replaced as part of routine maintenance.

According to the C&D test, the Evo is very slightly faster. Small enough difference that better tires would put the 1er ahead.

OP, I got this link from somewhere else on this forum and it shows that the X is faster.

Check out this month's CAr and Driver and the Lightining lap freature. It has track times at VIR for the 135 and the Evo X. The Evo X laps faster by a few tenths of a second. Also see the link above for Motortrend...it put the two cars head to head.

I would think that the Evo would be faster around the track, but what BMW has done with the 1 series is phenomenal.

the link says the bmw 0-60 is 4.7 and evo 0-60 is 5.2. 5.2????!!!! for an AWD CAR? LOL. The 135 will smoke the evo from a roll so easily based on that. Just look at the power to weight ratio, and look at the quarter mile trap speeds. this should tell you what's faster. NOTE: OP WAS ASKING FOR ACCELERATION.

Heh, didn't see that. Yeah, the 135i will light up anything in a straight line that costs as much or less than it does.

I traded my X in for a 135i.

Racerack with turns: X
0-50mph or so: X
Acceleration at speed: 135i

The 135i has about 30whp more and weighs about 200 pounds less.

I like this car better overall, but I sure miss the handling of the X.

with the X, can you literally just floor it through a corner and the cars electronics figures out how to get around faster?

AWD doesn't require the same skill and smoothness on the track as RWD or even FWD. AWD corrects some of your mistakes. I had an Audi S4 for years. Much easier to drive fast, but a well sorted RWD with a skilled driver, should be faster. I learned a lot of bad habits in my Quattro. Now I've taken a step back with RWD, but I'm confident I will be faster in my 135i than I ever was in the S4.

Its EVO X (10th of the series)
There are two versions in america GSR(manual) and MR(dual clutch)
My friend has an 08 GSR and my 135 is way faster from any speed. The only advantage that the evo has is cornering. The 135 suspension stinks, stock tires stinks and with the EVO forget about it you mash the throttle in curves no problem it will take more than most drivers will ever dare to push it.

Curves = Evo slightly faster
Straight Line = 135i slightly faster

Despite what some might say about the 'ol magazine tests, I still find the numbers they were able to pull off quite impressive. A rear wheel drive car being able to rip to 60 mph and through the traps 1/2 a second faster than the all wheel drive, "fancy" launch controlled Evo is very respectable to say the least.:w00t:
I would love to see more track comparisons.

+1
Both cars are incredible, but I think you have more control of the 135i.

From my knowlege the manual evo is faster than the MR, MR is better on track. I think it would be an interesting shoot out, my 2cents says a 135i would win a sprint to 100ks. My limited logic behind that is that the 135i has extra kw, more torque, torque comes in earliar and it weighs less. I would think the only advantage the evo x or MR would have is AWD. In any case i cant imagine too much being in it. Has anyone of you 1ers owners timed your car 0-100?

just to confirm from a roll from stand still I destroyed my friends evo friday. He was amazed with the 135I. Not a lot of cars beat in stock form beats the 135 in straight lines. Im waiting for slicks to race my friends 6xxhp fox body stang he ran 12.2 with his street tires and his son's baby seat. Ill switch my AA to JB3 soon and see.

Check out the ICS dyno day video because you cannot talk street racing here. But it has been confirmed that the 135i is faster

On other parts of the world there is 360hp Evo X offered. American would never get it due to the outrageous price tag that would come along with it.
