H&R Sport Pictures

I took a couple pictures after letting the car settle for a few days. These are the non-xi H&R sports, which we now know work on xi's and will give you a drop similar to the non xi cars. The ride is better than expected honestly, Ive had cars with springs before and I was afraid it would be bad. I don't think I've even bottomed the struts yet, and the roads around here are horrible. Im really happy that I decided to do this, the car looks much lower in person compared to a stock xi and the ride didn't suffer much at all...

Sorry the car is so dirty, but the roads are still a mess and its way too cold to clean it yet

The front is higher with the xi springs which means the car has a forward rake like a stock xi, which was what i was trying to get rid of

I couldnt really tell you, I just use this car to commute so I never really push it. It seems like it corners much flatter and the average person would say the handling is improved, but in reality it's probably worse as with any other aftermarket springs by themselves because of the change in roll center, camber curve, suspension travel, etc...

actually in your pics the car looks evenly dropped. I normally prefer a stance where the rear is slightly higher in the rear (very slightly). But BMWs for some reason always seem to sit lower in the rear, even when you lower on springs, unless your dropped on coilovers.

Your drop looks just like mine (on XI springs). I run HR sports for the XI except during install, I removed the .5'' thick steel plate which attached to the bottom of the strut top hat. Removing that plate lets the front sit lower thereby also eliminating the 'rake' loook

Hello, Yes I have the same problem with my car (330 xi) the rear is a bit lower with my h&r springs, I am think of putting the regular shock in the rear and put the H&R in the front.
tell me more about the thick steel plate??? is it dangerous to take out..!! is it stiffer..? do you have pics of your car without the plate..?

Thanks sorry for all those questions..!
cheers

can you please elaborate on this? does that steel plate serve any purpose, and if i remove it, will it cause any safety/reliability issues?

So correct me if I'm wrong. I could put stock sport springs on my xi. This would give a better stance without a full drop.

This is what a fellow forum member (digitalinkartist) PM'd me earlier today as I was interested in buying his H&R non-xi sport springs...

"Springs were sold a while back. Just so you know, You cannot install regular (rwd) e90/92 springs on an awd xi. the strut height is longer with the xi's. you will end up damaging the undercarriage or suspension if you install them. GL with your search,
Chris"

actually that sounds incorrect, how do I know?? B/c I actually tried to install the 335i ZSP suspension on my XI and guess what? The 335i front struts are Taller!!! It's funny b/c the car sits lower than teh XI but yes they are taller if you measure.

The only reason I think they are taller however, is because they sit lower on the hub. The XI struts sit higher up because there is a front CV joint/boot obviously since the cars AWD. However, the 335i struts drop down farther and wont fit the XI because they will hit the CF joint/boot blocking the bolt holes from matching/bolting up!!

So side by side the I is taller, however its POSSIBLE once installed the XI sits higher

Does anyone else think that H&R sports and eibachs looks very similar in drop??
people say that the H&R has a lower front the eibach but it looks the same on pictures I see.
BTW those CSL reps looks great on AW, what kind of wheel is it?

The drop looks like the same as my car, and I'm running H&R sports for the xi.
