SERVICE FOR 1 Series
Hello,
I need to get my Micro filter, Brake fluid and engine oil change so went to BMW dealer and they said it would cost £400 seems a bit much to me!! Can anyone recommend a independent car dealer to go too?? I’m in Kent Bexley, Many thanks |

The difference between the amount that an independent charges compared to a BMW dealer is likely to cost the same in depreciation when you come to sell the car.
People buying used cars value main dealer servicing, especially in the current market. However, if you intend to keep the car until it is 7+ years and 60k+ miles I would go independent as it will make marginal difference when you sell.

Eagle, my advice is to shop around, I asked three dealers for a quote just to change the oil and they varied from £165.00 to £125.00

My oil and micro filter service came to approx. £190.
The orginal quote over the phone was £120 but apparently that was a mistake... The actual cost was around £250 but I kicked up a fuss and got it reduced to £190. |

My quote was for oil and oil filter, not micro filter.

Main dealer service
Hello,
I've recently had an oil and filter service at Rybrook in Warwick (All filters apparently - Micro, oil and Fuel) It cost GBP 382 which I thought was a bit steep. I got sucked into the 'Oil service for 99 quid' advert. - Took 2 hrs. The car had been valeted and I was quite pleased but I've driven about 3000 miles and just checked the oil and it is above the Max mark on the dip stick.I'm a bit worried about how much was put in at the change. Also, the cables hadn't been clipped in properly above the top engine tray. I know that these maybe minor things but I noticed also that the big bottom engine compartment cover doesn't seem to be removed. Does this need to be taken off to change the oil / fuel filter? Pete |

My car just had it's first service at 15500 miles.
I don't pay the invoice, as it's a lease car, but the cost was £194 which I thought was reasonable. Just an oil, oil filter and microfilter change though. Thought my brakes pads were fecked, but just a stone - should be good for 20k+ which is impressive considering the weight of the car (and the speed I drive!).
