Installing wheel locks on E90...

I got free wheel locks from the dealer but they didn't have time to put them on my wheels since it was late in the evening.

Do I just unscrew one bolt and screw in the lock or do I need to lift the car before I do that? Any instructions or precautions need to be taken?

Help me, so I can drive into D.C. with peace.

If you got the BMW ones you just unscrew one bolt from each wheel and screw the new wheel lock. No need to lift the car

Remember to put the "key" for the locks in the trunk tool holder

The reccomended torque for the bolts is 120 NM (88.43 ft/lb)

Thanks guys and I already put the key in the trunk tool holder. I don't have the power tools so I will have to do it in old fashion way by putting my weight on it. I weigh 170 lb .... what do you think? too light? .... Just kidding

If you do not have a torque wrench handy, 88 ft/lbs is tight, but not more than you can easily generate with a 14" tire iron. Not a bad idea to either (1) wait to let the dealer install, or if you really think your wheels are at risk, (2) install them yourself, but have the dealer tighten them properly later, or (3) check around the neighborhood to see who has a torque wrench, or -- danger -- go to a local tire shop and ask nicely...

never thought of such thing egtlover, I'll have to do the same thing since I live in prince georges county (the nice area but have to go through some shady spots at time). Make sure to put up some pics! As long as it isnt like mine Im cool

Mine is Titanium Silver with sport pkg manual. Just finished intalling wheel locks and now I feel better

I will post some picks later.....

you dont use power tools when putting locks on cars!! learnt that in auto class in highschool! we used a tourque wrench for the locks and other bolts.
