Anybody getting pulled over with 35% tint?

I have had 20% on mine for a little over a year now, and have gotten 3 tint tickets over that time. Its usually in smaller towns though, with cops who have nothing better to do. Not sure how it is out on in LI, but, either way, its just a $50 ticket. Worth it in my opinion. Actually, having the tint has actually saved me from getting a worse ticket one of the times.

huh?? if your asking if the worse ticket was for cell phone use while driving, no, that was not it. My tint is too dark for them to see me using it!!! also, kinda off topic, but i'm worried the tint will scratch every time i open my windows....is this going to happen?

NAHHH. You shouldnt roll down your windows for a week or two after you put them on, and dont wash your windows with any type of product that has ammonia in it. After that, your good to go!!!

I got pulled over 4 times this year for 35% tint...I was told it was illegal and needed to be 70%....total BS and they had this scanning tool to see what the tint % was because I was curious to see what the legal was...I didn't get any tickets for the tints at all because of the PBA card that my cousin gave me!

nah, it wont scratch unless you get sand in your weather seals

however, with a coupe you will quickly learn not to let go of the seatbelt buckle go as soon as you unbuckle. you'll have to carefully put it all the way up, or it will put a nick in your tint. i have a bunch of small ones in mine...

the key to avoiding tickets is frequent license plate changes, INFOCOP (the system the cops use to run your plates) goes by license plate number

IE

me being warned hundreds of times to take the tints off, cop runs plate, sees that, pulls me over

changed plate, cop runs it, sees nothing, maybe will give you a break

depends how intense your tint is haha there's a science to it

on 07s and newer, your tinter needs to felt the gaskets or else you will end up with vertical scratches. knock on wood, i havent gotten a tint ticket in this car yet.

in my S60R hwy patrol gave me a tint ticket for each front window instead of a speeding ticket for quite a bit over 50mph. i was pretty happy at the fine with no points.

So you've changed your plates hundreds of times? I doubt this method works. I could be wrong.

that's to much of a hassle, I've gotten one ticket with 35% and the cop let me pick no front plate or tints. I figured I'd take the tints since i already have like 3 no front plate tickets.

Yes they will scratch, it happened to me and a few other people that have 3-Series BMWs (28 and 35). After a while you will notice perfect vertical lines appearing on the windows that you roll down. Make sure the place that installs your tints also puts in the tint felt. It might cost you a bit extra but you wont have to redo your windows like 6 months after you get the tint put on.

Good old Jersey laws. Any tint can get you pulled over but I think for them to pull over a car with 35% tint is just rediculous. With 35% tint I can see right through my car windows.

I've been pulled over and I have 15%.

You'll come to realize that Suffolk cops have nothing better to do than write tint tickets.
