Steering wheel control pick up point

I'm in the middle of installing an aftermarket headunit. I've purchased a SWI-JACK in hopes of retaining the steering wheel controls. Can anyone tell me where to pick up the signal wire? The instructions say to pick up from the steering column however I've had no luck finding it. I've tried at the harness connector but it does not seem to work with the SWI-JACK. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: Found the connector. It's a green plug located around 6 o'clock with respect to the wheel. I tapped the white wire with red stripes and yellow dots. Works fine now.

Does that mean your steering wheel controls work with your new HU? What HU do you have? I've been wanting to do this (new HU), but the lack of steering wheel functions was deterring me. Do you also have bluetooth and does it work? Thanks?
