Gonna be in Dallas for a day

Hey guys,

Gonna be in Dallas for a biz trip this monday.. just wondering if there's anything a guy can do over there on memorial day? I don't wanna be all cooped up in my hotel room all day so i think site seeing will be a lot of fun..

Anyone want to hang out with a 25 yr old asian guy from cali? haha

being a monday and memorial day your choices are pretty limited on what you can do. Red, Hot, and Blue is a pretty good bbq place and there's one in the Plano area. Ghostbar is a good place to go but it won't be open that day. How long are you in town for? I'll be out of town till the afternoon.

well.. there's this one late night viet place called Bistro B (Walnut & 635) in case you're not interested in getting junky fast food. Or even Korean BBQ out by (Harry Hines & 635). It's Texas... we don't get the fun stuff down here.

Out of curiosity... What are you doing in plano?!

indeed there's a whole area for you to check out then. it spans a whole street and a couple of blocks. if you look it up on google maps then it starts at the intersection of harry hines and royal in dallas, tx

BBQ in Frisco, TX: Rudy's BBQ - very very yummy BBQ, make sure you get the extra moist brisket (lean brisket is too dry)

Korean town----Royal Lane and I-35 in NW Dallas
or try H-Mart Marketplace in Carollton which will be a little closer to you in Plano

Nothing compares to what you guys have in SoCal but it's enough to satisfy the craving.
I'm actually in SoCal atm, the weather you guys have here is insane.

Plano = Boring. But... it's home... harhar.

If you're willing to drive or have transportation of some sorts... I'd recommend the following (in order of my own personal preferences):

Sang Jang
11276 Harry Hines Blvd | Dallas | TX | 972.241.9006
-Kind of your hole-in-the-wall dive that we go to after hours.. 2am-later. I'm a big sucker for their japchae, seafood pancake, and the pork hock.. they usually serve alcohol after hours too (but they get a little iffy with ppl they think are suspicious of reporting them..) Reasonably priced IMHO. It beats eating Denny's/IHOP any day!!

So Kong Dong Tofu House
11181 Denton Drive | Dallas | TX | 972.241.0200
-By a Korean supermarket in Carrollton. They only serve jjigae there. There's also a yogurt place (Spoonful?) & BBQ place (Omi?) flanking this joint; but I've had TERRIBLE service at the BBQ place... FYI.

Naan Korea & Sushi
7161 Bishop Road | Plano | TX | 972.943.9288
-Threw this one in there since you might not want to drive out that far to get the more "authentic"/ghetto places. They're run by Koreans... so their sushi isn't impressive. Slightly pricey, but food is better than others around the Plano area.

There's NO WAY we can be up to par compared to SoCal... but beggars can't be choosers!

FWIW-- Family KTV & MAC are our KTV joints.

Just stay around downtown area... American Airline Center/Victory Park area-- where our Mavs choke at, is pretty nice. We finally got a Wolfgang Puck restaurant at the Reunion Tower (the ball lookin' building). 6th Floor Museum- JFK assassination place.. if you're into that sort of things.

And we'll be hitting up Ghostbar @ the W Hotel tomorrow night if you're somewhat interested.

What happened to the tire? Are you on run flats? If so, are they as bad as everyone puts 'em out to be?

no i'm not on runflats. yes they are THAT bad. it's just very noisy and the ride is uncomfortable. i'm on toyo t1r's right now since i have aftermarket wheels. there was a screw in the rear driver tire and it was too close to patch up so they had to replace the whole thing.

I've got the runflats on mine and i agree with ya a bit. noisier, absolutely, but that's an easy fix, just turn the radio up as far as an uncomfortable ride, i think you just feel the road better. but, that's just me.
