Dyno numbers from this afternoon

Put the car on the Dynojet this afternoon. The numbers look pretty consistent with others I've seen. My car is stock except for an ape performance air filter.

The 3 runs were:

328HP/255TQ
330HP/250TQ
332HP/255TQ

All the runs were done pretty much back to back. The 1st 2 runs were done in 5th gear and the last was done in 4th gear. The first run was done with the normal throttle setting and the last to were done with the sport plus setting via the M drive button. I don't think the M button really made a difference but I didn't expect it to since all it affects is throttle response. Ambient temps were about 98 deg and 20% humidity according to the printout. I'll post the charts as soon as I get a chance to scan them. Some of the Audi guys that I met up with also got it on video so I post that link once its available. I think they are still at the shop because some Supra guys showed up to run their cars too.

Dyno charts

Gary put down some crazy numbers with his 135 ... We gotta beat that

One of the B5 Audi S4s put down 440HP/460TQ. He's running hybrid KKK K04 turbos with Porsche 997 compressor wheels. He's planning to upgrade to a fully built motor and GT28 turbos now. Those S4s with upgraded turbos put up some crazy numbers but I don't miss mine at all. I never upgraded the turbos on my old S4 though.

easy tiger, see how it feels in the weak stock form first. there's plenty of power to get yourself in trouble with the stock motor. but if a cop ever pulls you over for speeding, just tell him you're off duty, and you'll write yourself a ticket when you get home.

RAD Motorsports in Waipahu. I don't know how much they usually charge but because we had a good size group with time slots pretty much throughout the day it was $80 for three pulls. I've heard its cheaper elsewhere but they are the only ones with a 4-wheel dyno. I was with the Audi group so most of their cars are AWD.

BTW, just so you guys don't freak out when you get on the dyno, I'll tell you that my car had 3 or 4 different codes for the ABS system after my car came off the dyno. As soon as I started driving away from the shop they all were cleared. Maybe it has something to do with the car not actually moving or maybe dealing with the inertia of the dyno rollers slowing down I just know I was a little freaked out until we left the shop and as soon as a drove maybe 100 ft all the warnings were cleared. No problems since.

I paid $100 for three pulls at Rads. I also had a bunch of lights after my pulls.

I thought about doing that for the dyno run but figured it would be better to get a baseline on pump first.

Most guys just let them do it. From what I understand the 1:1 gear for the manual transmission is 5th gear so you'll want to do your run in 5th gear. Interestingly, the 1:1 gear for the DCT is 7th gear but because 7th gear tops out at 200MPH+, we thought that the run would get intterupted by the speed governor. So to keep the top speed below 150MPH, we did the runs in 5th. The last run was done in 4th just to see what happened.

That's just the gearing limitations of the transmission. In an actual road test, the car would be limited by drag well before 200. However, since there is virtually no wind drag on a dyno, the wheels could possibly spin fast enough to simulate 200.

Sonic Motor Sports

is another option for dynoing our cars

I don't know what they charge however because I haven't called them.
