Safe Wheel Mounting in MA?
Hi All -
I need to have a tire mounted and balanced on an M6 rep and I'm looking for someone who I can trust not to damage the new wheel in the process. Does anyone know of a trustworthy source somewhere on the North Shore (Peabody area) of MA who can do this? Thanks! ...Jay |

Thanks guys. I decided to go to BPG in Winchester tomorrow morning. They've mounted tires for me before and were good at being careful. I was hoping to find some place a bit closer (there are quite a few around, but I don't trust any of them!) but finally decided not to take a chance and just go with what I know works.

to remove old tires and put new ones on will typically cost about $15 - $20 each wheel. they call that mounting and balancing

- Put car on lift and removed damaged wheel/tire
- Dismount tire from damaged rim - Remove TPM sensor from damaged rim - Remove valve stem from damaged rim - Install TPM sensor on new rim - Install valve stem on new rim - Mount tire on new rim - Balance new wheel/tire - Mount new wheel/tire on car & torque lug bolts - Remove car from lift $42.12 I thought this was just a bit high but I can't complain. Everything these guys do they do it right, they do it fast, and they're very careful with my car. They're also very friendly and perhaps what I like most is that they always let me look around under the car with them when it's on the lift and they'll show me, in detail, any part of the work they're doing if I'm interested. It's nice to have found a shop that can be trusted with my car. These guys may not be the cheapest around, but they're great in all respects and that's worth a lot to me. A couple of times the owner (Jon) even let me take his 740i home for the day while he worked on my car. Now he's got an 09 M3 so I think it'll take allot more buttering up to get THAT loaner for a day! |

I always go to BMW Peabody for my regular service. I've known one of the sales managers all my life so I buy my cars through him and he always gives me a great deal. I asked my SA about doing the mount for me and she said they've had some trouble with their machines lately and that I might be taking a chance having the wheel done there (I certainly appreciated her honesty here) so that's why I ended up at BPG. Other than that, BMW of Peabody is quite impressive these days (both locations now!) and I've always been pleased with them. |

i watched my good friend do my wheels and he's a damn genius when it comes to the hunter machines
there are a few levers and a joystick, so in essence it's like playing a video game at the local arcade. just more expensive than a few quarters if you mess up and need to restart game but i think cost is way up there for customers...maybe a few hundred bucks...i think he told me rft's on an x5 will cost about 500 bucks to m/b dont quote me on it though...my memory is garbage lately Last edited by mogarbage; 09-03-2009 at 12:59 AM.. |
