Never did go to Nakamura's Ramen ... Gotta try it one of these days.

I'll remember to go to Mama's when I'm up in Maui.

Thanks for the tips

WHILE THE FOOD WAS DECENT AND THE VIEW WAS GREAT, THE WAITING STAFF SERVICE WAS BAD.took unfinished drinks and plates too early, also i ordered a drink and we went to go smoke when we got back they had seated sopmeone else at our table...didnt get the drink, left because our table was newly occupied with someone else and on top of that was charged for the drink...the waiter was a complete noob. i would go back though, only for happy hour, the place is really nice, and cant beat the view, it tends to be on the touristy vibe but thats expected at waikiki

Alan Wong’s at 1857 South King Street in Honolulu is without a doubt the best restaurant on Oahu (and the state of Hawaii). For my wife and I it was a once or twice a year special treat. The Chef’s tasting menu is well worth a special trip.

The original Roy’s is very good too. My wife and I have dined at the Hawaii Kai, Big Island, and (the now closed) New York City locations. The original restaurant in Hawaii Kai is the best of the three we’ve been to, but it still doesn’t quite compare to Alan Wong’s original restaurant on South King Street…

Maui favorites:
Sansei is a MUST try. Basically eveything that's in the box on the menu with the addition of the butter fish, onion rings, and maybe the foi gras.

Laihaina Grill- ask for the tasting menu. It's epic.

Plantation House for breakfast/brunch or lunch until 3PM is a great value and amazing views.

Mixed Plates for dinner at sunset is great and inexpensive. It's crowded and hot during lunch.

David Pauls Island Grill is only OK at best.

But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

The Butterfish at Roy's is the best fish I have ever had.

I was also a big fan of Haleiwa Eats, a Thai restaurant in.. well Haleiwa haha. A nice small place, very local feel.

Vinos...it's in restaurant row, off Nimitz. They use local farmers and serve specialty wine. Its small, but never crowded.
