speeding ticket
Hi,
Anyone know if getting a speeding ticket in NJ will affect my insurance or not if my license and state of residence is NY. I see from the NY DMV website, that points do not carry over. But do insurance companies only go by what NY DMV reports or will they investigate for points in the entire tri-state area as well. Anyone with experience, please comment. Thanks in advance.

it depends on the county, your points might transfer over to ny and get picked up by ure insurance

with a few exceptions for ontario or something, tickets outside NY will never find their way to your NY license (in terms of points). this is absolutely clear as per the NYS DMV website.
you ask a good question about whether insurance companies can find out anyway... i believe the answer is no |
