CDV delete

Has anyone locally removed their CDV (or replaced it with a modified one)? I've read a bunch about it, and it seems to be the cause for rough 1-2 shifts.

Anyway, how much did it cost? And where did you have it done?

Not completely sure if I'm going to do it yet (E90 is leased), but would like to hear what you guys think.

I have a modified clutch valve from Riss Racing, brand new. I never got a chance to install it.

I've driven a car with the new cdv installed and the shift into 2nd is better and basically thats all I got...you can shift faster too.

If you want PM dave96dcm and he can install it for you if you need help with install. If you want to buy mine I'll sell it to you.

I have a modded one installed. On an xi it's harder then on an i. The front drive shaft is directly in the way of the bleeder. The only way I could access the bleed valve with my huge hands was to remove the front drive shaft, not that big of a deal it's only 8 bolts. Just a heads up though.

as for driving, it completely eliminates the lag when you hammer the 1-2 shift. It's the way the car should have come, I don't really understand the point of it.

really? i have pretty fat/big hands and have done alot of xi cdv just like the i, i admit its tighter but def do-able with removing the driveshaft

I'm a big guy. Yes it's do-able but I didn't want to strip the bleeder like I thought I was going to.

Yeah ditto! I've had a modified Riss Racing CDV rolling around on my desk at home for months. I just don't have the space to do any sort of mechanical work on my car where I live, let alone the tools. Maybe we can have a CDV meet? haha

My family has a shop right on Mass ave just outside of Harvard Sq. I use the shop on the weekends to do detailing and any odds and ends locals need. I am thinking about removing my CDV on Friday actually

What time are you going to be doing yours on Friday? If you could do mine at 6:30 that would be awesome. What would you charge also?

Hey guys, I def wont have time to do all of these on a friday night... if you want, we can set a date for October 10th? Which is the Saturday a week from this week. I can make sure I have space in the shop to do the cars and we should be good to go. Is this ok with everyone? I'll figure out a good price for everyone, nothin too high

Order an OEM replacement and knockout the guts yourself. saves you money.

you can do the install with out putting in a replacement CDV... but should you need warranty work done, you would need a CDV placed back in...

Hey man, Sorry, Work and some personal stuff have kept me pretty busy... I work full time outside of the shop so I just havent had a chance to do this yet to my own car... I'm figuring about $35 bucks a pop but just haven't had time. I'm also going to need to pick up the fluid to bleed the clutch after the swap.
