I have heard that we get our first X1's in 2010 calendar year as 2011 Model Years.
I haven't heard specific news about pricing, but the President of BMW Canada did say in an interview (with Canadian Driver, I believe) that the price of the new X3 xdrive28i would be $39,900. If that is the case, the X1 would have to a sigificant margin less. I would imagine that $34,900 wouldn't be unreasonable to start for the 28i. I really hope that we would get the diesel version (23d would be the best but the 20d would be outstanding too) and would expect the 23d to cost a bit more than the 28i. Its kind of indirect, but at least its a guess based on some specific knowledge and educated deduction given the rest of the pricing scheme. |

I love this new SAV, but wouldn't think of buying it unless I can get it with the 23d motor.
I would like a manual transmission as well, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if it only came with an automatic. I can't believe that they are a waiting so long to release it to Canada. There isn't even any information on BMW.ca about it yet. The buyer of this vehicles will not be the same buyers as the new X3. Maybe the current X3, so once all the 2010 X3 stock is gone, maybe they will bring them over.

If they brought the Xdrive 23d with a 6-speed auto I would be the first in line... especially after my experience with a 118d in Europe! So good!

I dont understand why we dont get the diesel models here. Everyone complains of gas mileage and emissions, where the new diesels get twice the mileage as a petrol equiv. and with new emissions are clear and quite. Also, the 4 cylinder diesels shut down at red lights or in heavy traffic, and restart when you engage the clutch, which isnt available on the auto-petrols... |

Well, I am banking on the X3 with a diesel happening more anyway. I would also love that, but auto will be just fine.
Basically just give me a SMALL diesel SAV or I will buy a 335d.

Bora, I'm thinking the exact same thing...
AWD would be nice (Considering the weather in Kamloops) but at the same time I do fine in my 328is, so I'm sure I'd get by with a RWD 335d. Kind of weird to see someone on here, living in the same place and contemplating the same 2 cars. |

Not great going up to Harper or Sun Peaks, but not the end of the world. If the X1 or X3 comes in a diesel, it will be a no brainer, otherwise we will stick with the 335d.

Summer?
My dealer said they are coming this summer. So it sounds like it is the usual model year 2011 -- production starting June-ish with cars arriving August-ish.
Thinking about one but also curious about the new 1 series and if we'll get a hatchback there.

I called BMW HQ
and the response i got was that they will introduce the X3 first probably Summer 2010 then maybe in late fall 2010 the X1 will show up Now that makes sens to me, get the people that are thinking small SUV but only get the more expansive car out first X3 (make money, and wait) and then 1/2 year later show them what they could have bought for less some will be disappointed some will not, but this way BMW makes more money. Simple, smart business decision. |

Detroit Auto Show
It will be interesting to see if BMW US uses this show in January to "launch" the X1 in the U.S.
I am hoping 'cause then we'll see them at the Toronto show the following month.
