6000km and breaks squeek

So I got about 6k km on my car and when I break and am about to stop my breaks squeek. Is that normal or are my break already gone bad and need to be replaced. Come on. only after 6k?

i live in france, on a mountain, beautiful twisites and roads, but all of my cars have had this horrible sound, its a matter of the dust, dirt and whatnot getting on the pads/disc or a combination(dont quote me as expert though). i think youll find that if its the case ur car is fine and happens to alot of people

check your manual... these brakes squeak/squeal under normal operation. nothing to worry about

The standard pads should last for >10'000km (when not used on a track). And they never sqeak. Check the thickness of the pads.

Use a pressure washer to clean your wheels/rotors/calipers. I think it may be because of brake dust.

You probably have something on the rotor or the pad causing the squeak. Perform a pad bedding process and the noise should go away.

I have tracked my M3 twise, I am otherwise not giving an easy time on the M3 and I have 26,000km. No indication in iDrive that I need new pads.

I think one can "reasonably" expect pads to last close to 30,000km. 10,000km is too low (by ">10,000km" I guess you don't mean anything above 10,000km, eg 100,000km!).

From my experience:
standard pads: 20'000km when used off track
performance pads: <=10'000km when used on track; to be precise: this April I bought new performance pads, in September after about 8'000km including 90 laps on the nurburg ring I had to replace the front pads.

Yes, It's normal.
It only squeeks when you're just about to stop, while applying the break lightly.
I can also reproduce the squeek by breaking lightly while turning either to the right or left slowly.

>10,000km is a piece of cake. I already have 13,000km and my iDrive shows front 47,000km and rear 50,000km until the breaks need to be changed. I never tracked and always braked gently.

Brake squeal is normal. Pads when installed are coated with anti-squeal compound (a.k.a. plastilube) where there is metal to metal contact with the caliper. But plastilube is not a guarantee in general and can come off I suspect. I changed front pads recently and they squeal more than the old ones, probably because anti-squeal compound was not applied in the best way.

Your front/rear pads new measure 20.3mm/17.3mm in compound thickness. Unless they are at less then 3-5mm they should not need changing for normal street use. iDrive is not accurate at all from what I can tell by looking at the pads.

As far as break life is concerned, you can easily expect 30000 miles when driven normally on the street. If driven like an M3 should you would expect shorter life. For example: 280min @ Laguna Seca, 160min @ infineon (half on wet) some 200mi of spirited santa cruz mountains, rest normal driving = 7500mi fronts and 9700mi rears.
