Dawn in Tokyo

Working away here. Not often I awake in time for dawn (blame the time-difference) but makes a change ... nice view to wake up to.

Cool - whats that ring around the junction on the left?

Have you got a tiny japanese hotel room - or is that just a myth?

It is a hotel. Some of the rooms I used over 10 years ago were indeed very compact, but in Shinjuku (new hotel area) they are much better. Went out with some lads about 15 years ago in Nagoya and got a bit merry ... we ended up staying in a capsule hotel, now they are bijou But great fun.

Just in, here is the view that has greeted me this evening.

Was running around between different locations today, and organising a workshop event in a building near Tokyo main station. Bumped into the BMW offices. See a showroom around the corner from the hotel ... will probably pop in for a brochure.

The GTRs are good, picked up a beautifully made hard-back sales book of the GTR R34 when it was new out here, but really like some of the little box cars. Totally devoid of any macho posturing - just quirky and fun.

Off out for a wee beer now.

It has been my dream to vacation there. Any helpful tips if I ever make it?

Yes, take a LOT of money!!! It's an expensive place, especially if you intend to party!Campai!

On a totally different levelthe Atomic bomb muesum in Hiroshima is a very, very moving experience.

I woke up next to Mount Kilimanjaro this week as I just got back from Tanzania, last trip of the year. Could not get a good photo due to the low clouds - really disapointed.

It is expensive, but food is very reasonable (at least compared with Zurich).

Came back to find my room hidden in the clouds and rain last night. But that gave me a beautiful view to Mt. Fuji this morning.

Running around this morning between offices throughout Tokyo, and just finished giving a presentation to a international panel. Well received. Time for some friday night (late) beers ....

Back in Switzerland now ... last evening supping beers in the lounge of the hotel with the sun setting near Mt. Fuji.

Monday was 1.5 times longer than normal ...
