GT5 Time trial demo PS3

Anybody downloaded and tried this ? Free download.

Can't get into it myself. Doesn't suit a controller. Getting nowhere using my left thumb to modulate the steering, and my right thumb on the (x) for throttle. Fish tailing about (seems to be more dependant on where you are through a corner than your throttle control) and jerky/snatchy steering.

Just not feeling it ....

Might think twice about buying GT5 if it is like this with a controller.

No doubt very nice with a steering wheel.

GT5 is the reason the PS3 was built.

Mine is gathering dust in its box ready for GT5 while the XBOX is on all the time.

Go on, try driving in GT5 demo with a controller ..... you might take back that statement.

Looking at the feedback from others, it seems I am not alone in thinking it is not very good with a controller.

Played it round my cousins earlier. Agree it's twitchy using the analogue stick (even slightest movement messes the race up) but my cousin doesn't have a wheel, deffo will be better with a wheel.

As far as the rest of the demo goes, graphics looked below par but I suppose it's a demo and I think the file was pretty slight. I FACKIN hope Polypony Digital sort it out for the Spring!

Can't make a REAL judgment on a demo.

I downloaded it this morning, only had time to blast one lap out, but it left me VERY unimpressed. Did not seem to 'drive' well at all. Especially after the earlier GT time trial game seemed to play very well (the one with the mountain circuit)

As Sunny said, they must improve it or it will stand NO chance against games such as X'boxes Forza 3, etc..

Compared to Forza - PANTS - such a shame. If they dont pull that demo soon, they will lose a LOT of sales.

Some minor things I've noticed is that when I'm skidding around the tire squeal is loud but changes when I go over the lines, going through the sand looks so realistic and diffuses into the air naturally (just tiny touches make such a difference).

This WILL be better than Forza. I still find Forza arcadey (in before you lot say it's not) and it just does not have the "feel" of a real driving simulator. It's still accurate but in a more relaxed kind of way if that makes sense.

Even more off topic ... I'm surprised how bad the PS3 graphics are compared to the PC version.

The lighting effects are much warmer and realistic on PC. Check out the effect of the daylight streaming into the area by the escalators. PS3 version looks flat and one dimensional in comparison.

Great game though.

Graphics on PC will always be better from my experience.

Just finished the Esate Takedown on MW2 on Solo Veteran settings. Ramboesque "YEAAAH"

I'll leave the GT5 demo until after Christams, try it out more when I return.

But I have a sneaky suspicion it will be deleted quickly from my HD.

Pity, I remember watching with my mouth open at the graphics in GT on the PS one when in Japan over ten years ago. Then it played as good as it looked (with a controller).

Each newer version gets better graphics but less, and less cars - and more "realistic" handling.

Cheers Dave, I hadn't even looked at the 'special ops' things. I was busy playing through the single player again on 'veteran', but now have a nice little distraction.

I love using both analogues for control. That's the only way I've ever done it on any racing game I've picked up... is there something different about this demo from things like Prologue then?

Prologue was OK, once you got some decent tyres on it became fun.

This is ..... "not good". Free download, you can try it.

Feels like your car is driving over different sized marbles using remoulds (even makes cold RFTs in the wet feel good !!) and the controller setup is very, very poor - I just get no FEEL whatsoever. Unpredictable and twitchy. I won't accept the "realistic" counterpoint that Polyphony will use - nobody "really" drives their car with a controller and their left thumb, so some sort of compromise is required.

If this was released by any other company in this form, it would be slated.

Bottom line = no fun at all.

Maybe persevering would help, but it is a chore. GT2 was great - why spoil a good thing ?

No improvement over this and it most certainly won't be on my "to buy" list.

Gutted. What have they been doing all this time ????
