Quid is slang for a pound.

A Gritter is a lorry which drives along the road spreading grit, or road salt, when it snows or is icy.

Lorry is a truck.

I guess the quid/pound thing is equal to you guys in the states with buck/dollar

I personally can't answer the bonnet boot question other that that's just what they arecalled over here.

Why do you call a saloon a sedan?

Good golf courses all over the UK, you won't be far from one. Try the Brabazon at The Belfry, past Ryder Cup venue.

Quid is used like Buck

Arse over tits = Head over heels

Bonnet and Hood are both items of clothing which cover the head. They make equal sense as terms for an engine cover and probably evolved separately in the US and UK

Same with Sedan and Trunk.

I think boot probably came from a 'boot box' which is basically a 'trunk'. We also had 'Saloon Carriages' on the railways, which were enclosed with windows.

Only when they speak.

Not really, some states have an unusual twang, no different to some counties in the UK though

Trunk/Boot. The Americans kept the original name for this part of the car and the British changed the name. Very early cars did not have an enclosed space for luggage so a large box case, known as a trunk on both sides of the Atlantic, was lashed to a framework at the rear of the car. When enclosed spaces were introduced, the Americans kept the term "trunk". Why we changed to boot, I have no idea.

"Fanny" in this country does not mean backside, and applies only to the feminine gender.

"Rubber" in this country can mean the same as in the States but it's commonest usage is the name for what the U.S.A. calls an "eraser".

Coat - Jacket
Overcoat - coat
Pants - trousers
Underwear - pants
Elevator - lift
Sidewalk - Pavement
Freeway - Motorway
Traffic circle - roundabout

There are lots more but I can't think of them right now.

We don’t, if you had a much heritage as us crazy Brits, you’d have rode on horse back with a lance or pike in your right hand and in order to knock you opponent off his horse, you would have needed to be on the left side of the road/track, offside to offside, pike to pike.

Wikipedia is your friend.

There is no sound justification for either side being the "wrong" side. Part of the reason the States went for right side of the road is because Britain used the left and it was a symbolic additional split from Britain.

Express ... Can you send me some apple jacks? Man I loved them. Infact I love most things American to be fair. I especially loved the convertible ford mustang I drove while I was over there a few years ago. Sadly only had it for two days but I don't think I stopped driving in that time!
