Staggered wheels for X1...?

Hi guys

I have just ordered the X1, and I am now looking for new rims.

My intentions are to go with 20" rims - and the question is, if it will work with staggered wheels?

Can I go for 8,5 x 20 in front and 10 x 20 in the back? Or should I just go for 8,5 x 20 all the way around...? Any ideas?

I ordered it in Alpine White, and I am considering Breyton LS in matte black...

Best regards
Henrik

18" Style 323 are 9" rims (in the rear)
so as a minimum 9" should be OK in the rear...

20" should also be OK:

I hope this can help you

Garage List
firstly, well done on your new order

those 5 spoke ACS's are lovely. I saw them in a mag just before I took delivery. Wouldn't mind having them, but with 20's and the state of our roads, I'm worried the ride quality will just be too bad. Amm quite enjoying the smooth, soft ride after years of sporty cars.

Thanks for the link - it convinces me, that 20" will look awesome on the car.

The dealer that I am considering buying the wheels from, suggests the following rim/tyre combination:

8,5 x 20 with 245/35 R20
10 x 20 with 285/30 R20

It is not the same as for example on the Schnitzer-site, where they suggest 295/25 R20 to go with the 10 x 20 rim.

Will this difference be a problem? If not, it might be a plus regarding filling out the fenders...? What do you think?

Best regards
Henrik

you must keep the same wheel diameter +/- 3%
If you do not respect it is not legal regarding to the European tyre and rim technical organisation (ETRTO)
Moreover "gearbox ratio" will be modified
The calculation is the following
original size is 225/50/17
wheel diameter: 225mm*0.5*2 + 17" (1" = 25.4mm)
=657 mm

then 295/25 R20 is -0.2% ==> OK
285/30 R20 is 3.4% ==> not OK
245/35 R20 is 3.5% ==> not OK

nevertheless the non conformity is marginal ....
