iPlayer issues

Is it possible to play files downloaded through iPlayer in another application?

The iPlayer app seems to run so slowly - audio is ok, but the view is very start/stop

Download it to your computer then watch it off the hard drive. Avoids slow broadband/server issues. Can only be watched through iplayer to avoid pirate issues. Downloaded programmes also have a shelf life of around 1 to 2 weeks before self deleting.

Files already downloaded, but the iPlayer app seems to run very slowly (not a very high spec PC, but WMP works fine for normal avi files)

I'm no expert but could be the PC. My old PC couldn't play video too well streaming and downloaded. Didn't like DVD's either. New MacBook does it all very well.

Tried the opposite then? Tried just streaming. The iPlayer desktop is a little bit cpu intensive actually..

Theres a few things you can try though; closing un-used applications etc..

If you have a nintendo wii and a wifi connection there is a free iplayer application which lets you stream through the wii and play directly on the TV.

Otherwise the DRM on the iplayer files is a bugger to strip out.

I did manage to rip something from iplayer to CD as an unprotected divx file, but it was a real pig to do.
