leather / interior care

Does anyone have any specific recommendations for leather care? I have black leather in my 330i and I want to keep it looking nice.

In my previous cars I've always just used a damp cotton towel and gone over the seats to pick up any soil, then thoroughly dry it. Kept the seats in good condition. Any cleaners I tried always seemed so oily and I couldn't believe that was good for the seats.

I noticed Zaino has a couple leather cleaners/conditioners. What's the word on those? I know we're all members of the Zaino cult here in terms of paint care, but how about interiors?

My personal favorite for interior part care (dash, etc) is einszett 1Z cockpit premium. Leaves no weird finish, just the clean new dash look.

I've been using Lexol cleaner and Lexol conditioner. I might try the Zaino stuff later. For the dash, I use Meguires Rubber and vinyl care after cleaning with simple green.

So meguires is the best for the dash and wheel and all? even the wood trim?? Any recommendations?

I am currently using 303 aerospce protectant on my plastics, I like it, not too shiny, no smell or slickness. I haven't done anything with my leather yet except wipe it down.

Lexol is good for leather, also Griot's leather care. For the dash and general interior cleaning, Vinylex works well. I just got a freebie small bottle of Griot's interior cleaner and gave it a try. I was quite impressed - it cleans well and once buffed off appears to leave no film or residue - the matte interior surfaces retain their matte finish, looking as new. The wood has a plasticized coating so whatever works for the dash should work ok on the wood trim.

I think the trick with most interior cleaners is don't use too much and buff it off with a cotton cloth. I agree with prolix21 - I don't want to the dash or leather to be shiny, oily, or otherwise look different than stock.

Hands down the best stuff you can use. I wouldn't start really treating the leather with anything until after the first 4-6 months.

Well I have the zaino for the leather its just the dash and all I was wondering on what to use to clean and protect thats all...

i wonder if i put some face cream that my girlfriend uses will do the job...lol
if is good enough for the human skin..then it should be ok for leather

What do you use to clean the ceiling liner? I found a couple of spots on there.

I've been using Lexol for theleather and it works well. I also have Meguiars vinyl and plastic protector for the dash. Simple green could be a bit strong for regular cleaning. For spots on headliner you might try Folex (available at Lowes), some people use diluted Woolite.

I bought Leatherique a couple of months ago, I don't know maybe I really suck at detailing or something, but I really don't know what I'm doing wrong yet I didn't see any incredible results.

The instruction says to "massage" the leather with the oil, how long to massage, how much pressure to use? I have no idea.

I used leatherique and let the Rejuvinator Oil sit on the leather for 24 hours (did it on a weekend). It was a long process, but the leather smells good, albeit with little change to the touch. Maybe we would get more tangable results if our leather was a few years old and worn...

I have a regimen that I use...

Enziet Cockpit Cleaner on all plastic/ non-leather surfaces
Spiney Beck Leather Care System on the leather
P-21s Carnuba Based wax on the wood
Then all that is left is to vacume out the matts...

I have found that this system works great for cleaning the interior but it does take a while to do so if you are looking for something a little bit more time friendly you might be better off doing something else...
