iwork Vs office
I am fairly new to the Mac way of doing things but am getting there slowly but surly. I need to get a some work software for it, not that I do much work on it, but I for the small amount I do I need the right software.
I thought as I am now a Mac I should get iwork, but then I thought it would make sense to get the Mac version of office as it will be fully compatible with all files that I send home etc. Anyone used both and got any decent feedback |

I've used both and iwork is fully compatible with Microsoft office and vice versa(Dont quote me though!) not sure it is with everything but I've never had any problems!
The only thing that wont open in iwork is publisher files but saying that office for mac doesn't even have publisher so office doesn't open them either. Sod office and go with iwork! its alot cheaper as well! |

Depends on it's use I guess. There is nothing wrong at all with 'mail' but I use Entourage for business. I have over 40,000 emails in all my folders & the search in Entourage is just amazingly quick.
"Horses for courses" as they say! |

MB, you can download a 30-day trial of both iWork and Office for Mac.
HOWEVER, I did, and found it didn't really help my decision! trouble is, I KNOW iWork "suits" SnowLeopard better, but I did find it a little more difficult working with some of my work spreadsheets, although some interesting layout options with "numbers". No question iWork files (pages & numbers) are compatible with MS Office - so no problems opening up Word or Excel files, but I found Office for Mac still had the slight edge over iWork - bit gutted as I so wanted to go for the Apple software. Apple's Keynote p1sses all over Powerpoint apparently. I understand there's a newer version of Office for Mac coming along, although not sure when. google Software4students and you'll get Office for Mac for about thirty-six quid. No student-ID needed.
