BT Scanner Problem

Yesterday I changed the oil in my car(E92) as the service indicator advised. Afterward, I connected the scanner to my computer, scanner to the car, and tried to pull up the condition based service menu and nothing showed up. Today I tried again and the only four of the modules displayed, oil was not one of them. Has anyone had this problem?

No the car was not running. I was unclear about that. I tried to start it but it won't start while connected to the scanner and my computer.

You're suppose to plug in the BT tool to the OBDII when the engine is off. Once you plug it in, turn on the engine and make sure the green light on the BT tool is on. Then you plug in the USB to your laptop. After that, start the BT program and it should work perfectly.

Thank you, I'm gonna run and try right now. You know, I read the instructions more than once and I don't think that was made very clear. In fact, here is an excerpt from their instructions:

"Connect the standard interface cable’s USB connector to the USB port on your computer.

Connect the OBDII-end of the standard interface cable to the diagnostic port on your car...

After you connect the cables, turn the ignition to the ‘on’ position and start the Bavarian Technic program."

I'm such a shmohawk. If anyone else has this problem, try putting the key fob in. That solves this problem.
