275s or 285s on 19x10 on e92 coupe?
I want to get 285s but am not sure if theyll rub with my new Iforged Daytonas that are due in 5 weeks. I did not specify an offset and Iforged said to trust them. They have already fitted several e92s and will set it up correctly. I am going to lower with HR sport Springs when they come out in a few weeks. I know the race springs are out now .... maybe a little to low. any input?

i dont know if u could even use 275, depending on whether u have a flush offset. flush offset, you couldnt even use 275, ud need 265.

I'll do that. I do not want the wheel flush. Im thinking if they were 7 or 8 mm inside it would give enough room for 285s if i rolled the fenders..??

I currently have 275/30-19s on the rear of my E92. I plan on changing them out to a 265/30 though, as the tires are just the ones I had on my E46 M3. The outer radius is a little too big, so the speedometer and gearing is off until I change the tires out.
Oh, they're on ZCP wheels, ET27 on the rear. -Evan

EvanL - thanks for the info! Any rubbing with the 275s? I presume the ZCP are 9.5" width?
Any picts? BTW, I grew up in Columbia Mo - went to HS and College there. |

Hah! I actually grew up here as well (Kewpie)...small world. As per the rubbing, no issues so far. They've been on less than a week, so it's hard to say for sure at this point. I should note that I went to some extents to make sure that there was not going to be any rubbing before I put the wheels on: 1) Rolled the fenders (make sure you use a heat gun and move slowly if you want to avoid cracking the paint).Anyway, they seem to fit fine. Oh yeah, and they're 9.5 in the rear and look great! I also put a 15mm spacer kit (happened to have one lying around from my E36 M3) on the front to get a proper offset. -Evan

Holy smokes - what a small world. I am a Kewpie as well - class of 90 (yeah I am ancient). I am curious if your current wheels and tires are completely flush or do you still have more room to move out (lower offset)? Your 9.5" width with ET27 means about ET33 for my 10" rims - I was leaning towards ET28 which is about 5mm more out. Thanks again! |

I wouldn't go any farther out with the wheels. They protrude slightly from the fender (very, very slightly), and I'd personally like them tucked in a little more for good measure. I seriously wouldn't recommend any less offset, and this is coming from a guy who has designed the mechanical side of a car before (Mizzou Solar Car Project...head mechanical engineer), and has experience with building up a few track cars. Granted, you probably could run less offset (I've seen people on the boards do it), but your suspension geometry would be slightly off, and there's a pretty good chance you'd run into rubbing issues if you took a straight-on stiff bump with a fully loaded car. -Evan

I have a few pictures of my E92 with the ZCP wheels installed on them here: http://www.missouri.edu/~ekl62a/Coupe/ . This was before I bought the car, and my old M3 is in one of the bays in the background. Unfortunately, I don't have the overhead shot of the rear wheel uploaded. However, I will tell you that both the SA and myself were somewhat worried about the rear clearance on the car as stock. -Evan

Pictures look great! You are right, your current setup looks aggressive enough. May I ask what offset you are running for the front? I know you noted that you added 15mm spacers....

Thanks! I'm really happy with the results as well.
The wheels are the standard ZCP wheels (which, incidentally, are CSL wheels on the rear, but non-CSL BBS wheels up front), specs can be found here: http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...D=M3COMPWHEELS To summarize, the fronts have a standard 47mm offset, but with the spacers, they have an equivalent 32mm offset. A 10-12mm spacer would have provided a closer-to-stock setup, but 15mm is what I happened to have on hand. -Evan

jjw3477 - I think that calculator above should give you a decent idea.
Front - the 35mm will make it stick out 5mm from stock along with the fatter tire. 25.4mm = 1 inch so little less than 1/4" Rear - the 35mm will make it stick out 21mm from stock. So, the rear will stick out almost an inch. |
