Where is everyone mounting their radar detectors?

Just curious. Have mine high on the high right(passenger side) next to RVM. Hard wired Escort 9500ix

Right Under Rear mirror but didn't wire it.
I leave that wire thing hanging around ... it gets in the way sometimes.

Depends on the manufacturer of your detector. Escort's plugs are on the left-side of the unit, so they mount better to the right of the mirror to hide the cable. Valentine's plugs are on the right-side of the unit, so they mount better to the left of the mirror to hide the cable.

How about "none of the above"

I've got a Passport SR7 Remote and have it located above the ashtray tucked under the a/c controls. You can't see it unless you're in the car.

high left above the mirror. I am scared of getting hasseled by men in blue about "obstruction of vision". Thats how they find an excuse to write a ticket for a radar detector.

Got my V1 hardwired and to the high left right on top of my mirror (so maybe high middle?)

I will probably break down and get one of those Aluminum EAS V1 mounts that puts it right under the rear view mirror and looks pretty good as well.... but finding it hard to justify $70 when how I have it works perfectly well as it is.

Same setup as Hawkeye. I got the EAS mount and it does not allow me to adjust my rearview mirror to where I want. I was going to return it, but I lost one of the screws when removing :-( I will have to remove the passenger seat to locate the screw, if I can even find the tiny thing! I also did not care for how low it was and it really was in the way.

You should try using an extending magnet pick-up tool first... and poke it around the various crevices (that's what she said!). They are available at Home Depot or Lowes for less than $5.

I had thought of that, oh hey those rare earth magnets I pulled from old hard disks may work for this job...

I have one at the house if you need to borrow it. Pick-up tool I mean.

Sliding rare earth magnet down from front to back on the inside seat rail I heard a click, I said out loud, "I got it!" and wouldn't you know it, I did. Now if I could just get the maginet unstuck . . . Just kidding, those things are powerful.

Hawkeye, I'd be willing to send this mount to you and if it works for you, tell me what you would pay...

What did you mean by you couldn't adjust the mirror? It has less play than before or none at all? That seems like a fairly big flaw to me!

^^, you realize this is a BMW forum right?

I only know of one other person in this section that owns a Titan, and both of us are on a Titan specific forum as well.

Weird username and stats unless you are just here trying to sell something.

any specific electronic problems. my 325i has the transparency in the upper left corner that warns about using cell phones, mp3 players etc... inside the vehicle and evry thig has to use the BMW pre-wired systems. The Z4 had no such posting.

sorta curious as to what other owners are doing as well. on my g35, i had my v1 hardwired and hung right under the rear view mirror using a mount that hangs from the neck of the mirror. on the z4 though, not sure what's the best way. as much as i'd like to hardwire, don't like the idea of cutting through the wiring harness of the mirror.

can you guys post pics of your setup?

P. I have a hardwired V1 upper left beside mirror mount. I like the detector up in the tint so it can't been seen from outside.

Z4M. I have 2. Came with a hardwired Calibre with a remote front and remote rear. I rewired the entire system and added the hardwiring of the V1 since I already have one. The Calibre is a K40 system that is now mounted behind the front bumper emblem and the lowest point of the rear bumper. Reads very well.

F150. Windshield mounted hardwire up in the tint as well, sits on a shelf I have that runs across both visors. Also keep a scanner in the truck for fire and police scanning. I know where the accidents are before the traffic and radio stations know.

Ashtray, typical space.

Command central.
