Replaced Bridgestone Turanza's with Continentals
At 16K, the runflats on my non-sport 325 started getting louder and louder.
Finally, at 22K, after reading many threads here, I finally made the change and got the Continental ContiProContacts -- apparently, these are the only all-seaon alernatives to the Turanza's right now. After a few days, I'm happy -- much quieter. Not silent but I would probably not pay any attention at all if I wasn't used to the din from the old tires. And handling feels good. The Turanza's were pretty close to worn out at that point. Runflats are still a poor alternative to classic tires but I wasn't ready to replace the golf back in the trunk with an extra tire. I just hope the Continentals don't start to roar in another six months.

Thanks, please keep us posted on the Contis. I'm at 18K and will probably need to swap soon too. I have 17" Bridgestone all-seasons too.

I went with all-season because I have AWD, so I'm not too concerned about slipping in the snow. And they're noisy, too.
When I had a 528i (without AWD), I remember by march I would be dying to get the damn things off but any time there was a forecast for flurries, I knew I had to wait another week.

I think the change was a wise move. My 330i came with all season Contis
and after 15K miles I have to say they have performed brilliantly. Not to mention that even though I've hit numerous potholes and not a bubble in sight and they are still quiet enough for me. Also the treadware on the all season Contis, is the highest I've seen so far (400). I was considering changing to 18" from 17" wheels but have now abandoned the idea after having seen what is the treadware and the price differential on the tires available for the 18" as well as having 3 rims bent so far. I can't imagine how much worse it will be for my pocket if I got with 18" and lower treadware. So I'm sticking with Contis |
