Justed placed an order for the XEDE

Well my car has 1100 miles that I picked up on 10/27. It's a 3 year 15K/yr lease so I took the plunge and ordered it this morning. The sooner I get it the better so I can get the most out of this purchase. They take a 20% deposit and when the part ships, they will bill the remaining amount. They say it should ship in a couple weeks so I'll have it for Xmas. Ordered the Stage 0 of course mapped for 91 Octane. I do not plan on any other mods since it's a leased vehicle. Since the XEDE comes with 2 maps, I asked for the other map tuned to the normal factory setting. Will keep everyone posed when I get it.

I just ordered as well. I didn't see a spot to specify two different tunes though. Maybe that will come later.

The good thing about the XEDE is when my lease is over in about 3 years from now, it shouldn't be too hard to sell on ebay for at least 400-800. By then there will be other options available like ECU reflashing or something similar to the XEDE. The great thing about this product is nothing i can think of is more undetectable. Most Bimmer guys and gals are very concerned about voiding their warranty since bimmers are so expensive to repair.

Howdy, we have 3 or 4 335i tunes scheduled for the next week so I'm sure we'll get a good handle on 91 oct results. Hang tight. 3 car to tune this Sunday in Texas on 93oct. Yeehaw!

Question on Octane Maps.

Being an enthusiast and racer for as long as I have, I know that often gas stations are "dinged" by the State testing authorities for selling fuel an octane rating or 2 below what it says. Because of that I'm a gas snob and try and to buy only name brand gas, i.e. Shell or Mobil, but even that is not a guarantee.

So...what happens if the 93 Octane I buy is really 91.5 octane every now and then? Is this a case for buying the 91 Octane tune Xede even if I typically put in 92/93? Or would the sensors cut back upon determination of knocking or other ill effects?

Sdiver I think your on the right track with it cutting to avoid knock.

My question is this.

You have 2 maps to choose from,, I missed how you set each one, but o well.

For the people whose highest octane is 92. And that you dont have a map for that. Your kinda set with buying the 91 octane map.

So for the next map, maybe have it set to 93 octane map. Fill up your tank with the 92 octane gas, highest we have avaliable. Then throw in some 100-105 octane race gas to up the octane, (you do the math). Would this be an option for people whose highest octane is 92?

I just havnt seen anyone ask about the 92oct. gas yet.

Yes, from my experience with xede on the evo, you can mix 100 and 92oct to get that 93 oct map. Also, just by using 100 oct. map on a 93 or 91 oct. map you will get additional power (not as much as a tune map) out of your car even. Force induction car love high octane.
