New member, thought you might get a kick outa this...

Hey everyone, new member here, signed up mostly for this sub forum, as I plan on purchasing a 335i in the near future. I've had two test drives, one at a dealership and one with a friend's uncle's 335i, and it was the second one that pretty much made up my mind for me.

I was talking to my girlfriend last night about the 335, and the Vishnu XEDE. talking to my girl about cars is like talking to tree about the theory of relativity, so I was trying to simplify it a bit for her. I was having trouble trying to explain the XEDE, because it isn't a reflash, it isn't a chip, its, well, XEDE. So I came up with one of the better comparisons I've been able to come up with.

I go, "Hun, you still have a Super Nintendo, right?"

"Yes."

"Well, you know the Game Geenie?"

"Yeah, the thing you plug in for cheat codes."

"Yep. Well, thats what the XEDE is. Its the Game Geenie for the 335i."

We should start a poll:

Who is more likely to find that you have modified you BMW with a XEDE?
a) Wife
b) Dealer

After the amount of money you spend on your car and not her, she might void something else.

I told my wife that this chip will save us money on gas since it makes the car run more efficient. I also mentioned that I can always sell the XEDE when the lease on the car is up.

It works!!!!

Of course I might of left out that the rear tires will last half as long.....

Smile How to get all the mods you want

This works perfectly with all wives/girlfriends. Tell them what you want to do to your car. Then tell them that it is only fair for them to get something nice for themselves. Of course this makes your upgrades cost twice as much, but if you do it right, you get a double benifit.

When I put an SC on my G35, my wife decided to get a breast enhancement. It hit the old bank account hard, but man was it worth it!! Could I ask for a better deal???

Now for my new XEDE, I did not get such a good deal. She is getting a new kitchen table. Too bad the XEDE does not cost more!! Oh well, at least my wife will be happy.

Cassiesman,

If you think you have it rough, imagine now that your life revolves around developing products for cars. Then imagine that you try to relate this technobabble to your girlfriend or family. Not only do they not care, or understand, they just downright don't want to hear it.

Welcome to my world.

Ouch...thats pretty much me any time I talk to anyone about cars, really though, so I quasi feel your pain. My girl's best friend's fiance races, so i can talk cars with him. Everyone else just smiles and nods. Sometimes they actively walk away
