Resenator delete with Eisenmann exhaust

So yeah, the exhaust isnt loud enough for my taste, and you barely here it without SR pipes i guess. I was looking into taking out my resonator. What do you guys think the sound increase would be like. If anyone has this setup, let me know. Also, would it be better to delete the resonator, or add say an aftermarket magnaflow performace resonator? Help me out guys.

Why not consider the SR pipes? If you don't like it, you can just bolt on your stock pipe. hunter399 has both the Eisenmann and SR pipes.

I have. The resonator's whole purpose is to cut the sound. If you remember in science class (lol) when two waves hit each other, they cancel out. That's what goes on in that little piece of sh*t box >:| My friend has an e46 zhp, with a rougue engineering dms exhaust. They muffler comes with extended pipes that just take out the resonator. It sounds amazing in person. My whole concern is that by taking out the resonator, would it amplify my sound, which from what i've read it should, but I just want to get second opinions, and maybe if i should use bigger diameter piping, or anything else. All im asking is for second opinions from people who know

I am going to get the SR pipes in the near future, and this mod is really cheap for the time being. Im putting tints, rims, other stuff ahead of SR pipes right now

I was reading the e46 forums, searching for some resonator info, and they kept talking about a 2nd resonator. Are they talking about the 2nd cat? According to them, thats what gives most of the sound? Do we have two resonators?

im in the same position as u ck1129, lol
i have quad race that just came in recently, and i still havnt gotn the break in yet, but its only a little deeper sound than the stock exhaust
SR Pipes will make the biggest difference i heard, but not enuff money YET. so if u ever find out if this works lemme know--- very interested
in my opinion i think it shud, bcuz it workd well for the stock exhaust, ive seen an old 323i delete resonator, and it made a good amount of diff.... so it should def. work on the eisenmann, mayb even better bcuz its an aftermarket exhaust

Quick question. I wanna go buy the Y pipe for the resonator removal in advance, so I can have everything done on Monday. What exactly is the diameter of the piping etc. Can anyone help me figure out which Y pipe to get? thanks in advance.

hey ck1129, since i plan on getting SR pipes later, when i install my eisenmann exhaust, i will CLAMP it to the stock oem pipe, correct?
bcuz clamping it will make it easier to install the SR pipes later on, cuz if i welded it, it would make install on SR pipes harder.
if ur resonator delete works, i might do it just until i get the full cat back. cant wait to see ur results

no. the sr pipes meet up with the headers at a flange. there are just 4 bolts that hold the sr pipes to the oem exhaust downpipes

the resonator wouldnt make the car rattle. my friend has a rogue dms exhaust, with no resonator, but still retained the cats. the car sounds SICK. the resonator is going to make a big difference, and i'll deffinetly update everyone with it by monday. you would actually get a better sound gain by no resonator, rather than no dummy cats.

not your avg 3, i guess you can do that sure. i clamped mine on, but im going to have it wielded on monday. if you plan on getting the Sr pipes soon, then clamp it, but if you dont, just wield it. clamps will most likely leak, as mine actually is alittlebit too.

lol well if i cant get money for the SR pipes "sooon" as in like a month or two, would u recomend me to weld it, and if i ever get the SR Pipes i can always just cut it right? its not that big of a deal to weld and then later get SR PIpes, cuz ur right, welding is better than clamping, bcuz u might get a leak
arite so ill prob go ahead and get it welded on, thanks alot ck

you only need to weld if there is a leak in the exhaust. in total there are 3 spots in the exhaust that you have to deal with. If you are putting in the Eisenmann exhaust With SR pipes, here is what it looks likehere is my 10 second diagram
Front---------------driver seat--------------rear seat-------------back
downpipes-------flang---------------joint----------------joint-----exhaust tips
--------------Bolts together--------Clamp/weld----------clamp/weld
