DIY: e92 deleted sidemarker
big thanks to cantcope for letting me use his car for this diy....
here are the tools used for this diy. hair dryer, box cutter, and a pry tool of some sort. ( flathead screw driver should be fine) *** you do not have to remove the wheel to do this, i only did you take good shots of the back*** image of the sidemarker from the back. step 1. heat the back of the sidemarker with the hair dryer. this will soften up the double sided tape. step 2. be very careful with the box cutter and start prying the bottom of the sidemarker till the tape gives and a lil gap open up. step 3. as soon as you get the gap big enough to fit in the pry tool, use the pry tool to continue forcing the sidemarker apart. step 4. as soon as you get the gap big enough to fit your fingers in, use your hand to continue removing the sidemarker. be super carefull. the side piece of the bumper is very flimsy. step 5. after you have remove the sidemarker, the tape should be stuck on the bumper. make sure you clean all old double sided tape that is stuck to the bumper. step 6. get your painted sidemaker and remove the backing like a sticker. now you can put it on. and here is the finishing product... |

It really is a shame bmw have that ugly marker there. Good news is it creates more money for longtran as he is selling the color matching marker.
looks much better but still noticed the edge of the marker.
