Exclamation Meth and Track Racing

When I first installed my meth kit and used the windshield wiper fluid tank as my reservoir, there were people that were saying that it wasn't big enough to race on a track. We were considering adding a second tank somewhere just in case.
These are the givens...
I am using a 375 ml nozzle which means that it sprays 375 ml/minute. Theoretically, given a 1 gallon tank one should run out of meth after 10 minutes of WOT. Each session length is 15-20 minutes long.
Of course, one isn't WOT constantly on a track but WOT is reached most of the time.
The wiper fluid tank is approximately 1.5 gallons. When the "low fluid" light comes on then it will take a gallon of fluid. With daily driving, I need to add about a gallon a week.

So, for those who haven't seen my thread, I just went to Laguna Seca and had the meth spraying in every session. Here is the thread I started:

I was very surprised to find out that I didn't have the low fluid light come on until the end of the 3rd session! The guys at EAS were telling me that I had nothing to worry about originaly since the BERK racing guys run meth at their time attack races but I knew that they were using a smaller nozzle and a bigger tank. They were right though.

So, to those who are worried about running meth on a road course and running out, you really shouldn't be worried unless you are using an oversized nozzle, running longer sessions than 40 minutes, or if you are using an incredibly small tank. I really doubt that anyone is doing any of these so you should be alright.

I looked down at my oil temp at the beginning of my cool down lap (after 9 hot laps) and it was 250 but I am using the VK oil cooler.

Nice to know but damn you go through a gallon of meth a week. I have had my meth kit for 4 months and maybe have used 1 qt total.

What kind of boost are you running at the track and what size was the nozzle and pump pressure?

I'm running around 15.5 peak psi with the snow performance stage 2 kit with the 375 nozzle.
I believe the pump they use is a 220 psi pump.

Edit- I see you did mention that.

Have you any logs of ignition vs Boost by any chance?

Most nozzles liters/min are rated at 100 PSI regardless of the pump they sell, just want you to be forewarned.

I run a m10 630/ml nozzle but thats rated at 100 PSI, and im at 200 PSI. I also run 17 PSI but my ignition is perfect.

Also running 90/10 Meth/water ratio.

At any rate my point is I want people to insure they are running safe ignition and the right amount of meth before they start cutting back on nozzle sizes to run track days LOL (not saying you are... just saying though).

So why did you get meth ?????

Sounds not right, or at leat like you aren't getting as much benefit as you could

My car consumed 0.8 gallon meth/water fluid per lap at the Nurburg Ring, which takes just below 10 minutes. Max flow in my car is about 700 CC/minute with an M10 and the actual setting of the controller. I was first a bit surprised the meth consumption was so high since I only use about 1 gallon a week for daily driving. A lot of extended WOT on a track change the situation completely though.

End result is the 1.5 gallon windshield wiper fluid tank has enough capacity for any type of driving I do. The volume in the trunk that many use for a meth tank is instead used for a CO2 fire extinguisher.

Sorry but I'm not really following - if you consume almost a gallon per lap, and your tank is around 1.5 gallons, that means you can do a max of two laps on the 'Ring. I suppose you drive more than that once you're there - so do you fill up each time again or how do you do it?

When I'm there I almost always drive 2-3 laps in a row, and 10-15 laps a day. I'd be a bit annoyed if I had to fill up each time, I have to admit, which is one of the reasons why I went with the bigger tank in the trunk.

Agree, if I was running frequently on the Ring a larger tank is much better. I had to refill too often but it was no real problem since I had more meth/water fluid strapped in the trunk for refill and a depot where I stayed.

Good to know you didn't end up running out! How often are you filling it up on the road? I am going through fluid like crazy, but I am running 1400 ml/min now.

A side note, a 375 ml/min nozzle does not flow 375 min/min. The Snow nozzles are rated for 60 psi. Since the new SHO pump is rated for 220 psi, you can see why it will flow considerable more. A 375 ml/min at 220 psi should flow about 710 ml/min of fluid.

I have dialed in setup to spray 700 ml/min when I am on boost only, then the nitrous activates a second methanol solenoid to progressively inject another 700 ml/min. The second SP methanol solenoid is progressive according to the percentage on nitrous being sprayed. 75% nitrous solenoid open = 75% of the second methanol solenoid open.
