Iam 1 qaurt low?

Had this happen to me 1 week after i got the car and just happend again after 30k miles. Just wanted to know what is the oil that bmw uses on the N54. Thanks guys,Jon

i believe it is 5w-30 full synthetic... but get a second confirmation on that.

I just take it into bmw and they add it in.

I use 5w-30 full synthetic for top offs. How many miles between top offs have you gone? Do you smell oil at red lights?

Mobil 1 0-40 euroblend - has bmw ll01 stamp
Castrol syntec 5-30 a has stamp as well

Both have european blend label

Mine needed .5 quart in 35K miles. So I guess they did not think it was much of a expenditure.

I guess if you twist it they might make you pay something after about the 3 or 4th time they see you there.. Idk.

It's also listed in the manual that comes with the car or can be downloaded from www.bmwusa.com.

And N54 definitely gobbles oil...best to buy a few quarts and save yourself the hassle. Surprised it's only happened to you 2x.

yeh the first week i had mine it said i was low so i bought some while i was at dealer so i didnt have to keep going back and it never happened again and have had oil changed since as well

I only add 6.5 quarts when I change mine every 5k. I've got three half full quart bottles in my trunk lol.
