Procede v4 update (dual gauge display, methanol flow and map# confirmation)
Greetings!
Here's some video clips that Shiv gave me this morning. It shows some new new free features we just got working. We expect to have this firmware update posted up for public use either tomorrow or Wednesday. What's new: 1) Methanol Flow Display Initially, we were thinking about having it display in a gauge but that would make a pretty boring gauge since the flow signal is almost binary (on/off) 99% of the time. So Shiv came up with the idea of having it turn on both turn signal lights when meth flow was greater than or equal to the max flow value you specified in the Injection Mode user adjustable parameter. It turned out great since it's far easier to see those lights while looking straight ahead at the road than glancing down at a needle gauge. So this means when the turn signal lights turn ON, you know that you are full on map 2 settings and that meth is flowing properly. When the turn signal lights turn off or flicker on/off, this means that meth isn't flowing properly or at all and that the Procede is not running fully at map2 settings. For now, this display function is always ON when running in Progressive Methanol mode (Injection mode greater than 0). 2) Wide Air/Fuel Ratio Display This value displays on the oil temp gauge (when this display mode is selected). The minimum reading indicates 20:1. The maximum is 10:1. Which means the middle reading is 15:1 or approx stoich. Very simple and self-explanatory. This gauge displays the leaner of either bank1 or bank2 AFR readings. So it's very helpful in disagnosing a bad or flaky o2 sensor. Or a failing fuel pump. Or, in the case of upgraded turbos operating at high boost, running beyond the limits of the stock fuel system. So, in summary: Display Mode 0= standard gauge displays Display Mode 1= Boost gauge active Display Mode 2= Boost and AFR gauge active 3) Tachometer Map Selection Display Soon this will replace the SES light flash feature since not all cars worldwide have an SES light. So when you switch maps (by double-clicking the DTC button), the on-board computer screen will go blank, indicating that you are in Procede Display Mode. And the tachometer will display your active map# (0RPM for valet, 1000RPM for map1 or 2000RPM for map2. Upon start-up, it will also go blank and display the map#. When starting in Valet mode, however, the display features are completely disabled as many people have requested. 4) There are some more "Easter Eggs" and new features hidden away in there. Here are some videos showing the new display features in action (ignore the brake light... broken brake pad sensor ): 3rd to 4th gear WOT run (with methanol injection active): Map and Display Mode Switching: Last edited by Calvin@Vishnu; 08-07-2010 at 11:36 AM.. |

Also, these features will work, as shown, on all n54 or n55 powered BMWs (including z4). The only exception to the rule is the 135 which has completely different needle gauge geometry/calibration. So we should have a fix for that within a couple of days.

Indeed... which is why you can toggle back to the less functional display modes (ie, stock gauges or boost gauge only). The idea behind the full display mode (mode 2) is for those who are on the dyno or track and want all the important data in front of them and not on a laptop, on the passenger seat
