My car has a mind of its own!!

Something really wierd just happened to me when I has the M3 out before. I was driving around with the windows down for the first part of my trip so I could hear that sweet V8 sound better. I had to go to the local shopping centre to do the weekly shopping and when I loaded the shopping into the boot and got in and started the car the windows would not go down. They wouldn't even move down that fraction when you open the doors. The whole trip home they would not work. I got home unloaded the car, went back ten minutes and all of the sudden the windows decided that they would work again!!! Has this happened to anyone else???

Coupes are supposed to go down a fraction of a second when you pull the door handle and it goes back up again once the door is firmly shut.

If that works, the window regulators "should" be fine. Could be a software issue ?

I had the same issue. What I did was, I held down the lock button? or the unlock button and the windows rolled down. Then they wouldn't go back up... So I stuck the key into the driver door keyhole and turned it all the way and waited for it to roll up. After that it worked perfectly without a problem. Granted it was the first time it has ever happened.

Would even do that while the windows weren't working. Actually makes the door really hard to close properly because of the presure in the car. It will be interesting to see if it happens again...

Continue to monitor it for the next few drives..

If it happens again, try stepping out of the car, hold down the Unlock button on your keys for maybe 3-5 seconds and see if all windows wind down.

If the windows does not wind down, it should log error codes on your car key. Bring that very same car key to the dealership and they should be able to download the error codes when they plug your key in. Hopefully they will take action from there onwards.

Probably right on the money. I've had odd things happen now and then. Basically they clear up once the ECU powers down and "reboots" the next start cycle. If it keeps happening it may be a bad module or loose wire.

Gilbo, It is probably your technik tune saying... you're going too slow for you to enjoy the sound of this V8... go faster and then I'll let them go down!
