CANtool *Custom Install* Full Review/Instructional Video

Ok so i got my CANtool in the mail this morning! :happy and wen't straight to the install but really hated the idea of holding this item and all that. so i came up with a pretty neat little way to mount it nice and neat! BTW here is a link to the PDF file for the CT

http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...6&d=1283917330

Some Pictures.

For the install you're going to need.

Torx T10/3M Tape
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1: Pop off the ODB Port cap off and plug the ODB Connection in from the CT
Step 2: Get you're Torx T10 and remove the 3 screws from under the dash and push back and pull down
Step 3: Lift the steering wheel to the highest point and fish the wire threw
Step 4: connect the DB9 to the can tool place some 3m tape to the back place and you're done!

Now the instructional video!

Looks good but you're in 135i mode in your video. Switch it to 335i
mode. It's option 1...

For a quick install going under the floor mat is also an option.

That is the stupidest place to put that and totally unsightly. Why couldn't this be put in the harness somewhere?

Try being 6'4", wearing size 14s, and NOT breaking that thing off getting in and out of the car.

That's the same issue I had with the Subaru Tactrix cable as the OBD port is basically in the same location. Oh well, at least it's functional.

Install location is up to the user. It can go in the ECU box (inside the JB3 PnP harness for example), or you can just plug it in to the OBDII port. It's a functionality vs. convince thing. The average piggyback user may find it much easier to just pull it out of the glove box and plug it in the OBDII port when they want to check/delete codes or monitor things on the dash. Flash owners may not want to open the ECU box at all. The OBDII mount also makes it easy to let your friends borrow it. Personally going under the floor mat and seat takes 20 second and seems like a good semi-permanent location for those not wanting to go in the ECU box.

When combined with a new JB tune it is $50.

Sorry, but I don't do enough reading around here.. What does this thing do? Is it basically like a BT tool?
