Cleaning Windshield

No mater what I have used (stoners window cleaner, AutoGlym Car Glass Polish, Degreaser, clay bar) I still have some issue with a dirty windshield.

When the window is dry it appears clean, when wet you can notice the path of the wipers. Also there is some smudging in places. You can feel the smudging as rough sections when cleaning the windshield.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried changing the wiper blades themselves?

The outside of the windshield? Glass gets pitted over time from stones and road debris, that's likely the problem here. You could try replacing the wiper blades as mentioned above though.

Yep, outside of windshield. The issues doesnt seem like pitting to me, more a chemical on the windshield.

Anyone else notice when washing the car, the water runs for the area swiped by the wiper, but beads where the wiper doesnt reach? Sort of the same issue with the smudging.

Maybe a picture is in order.

or Clean with Goo Gone or newspapers wet with gasoline, then wash with water.

and if they all fail, go get your eyes checked. The first sign of cataracts is seeing a film on mirrors and windshields.

+1 to both clay and newspaper.

Also, just curious, but do u apply any of those wipes on your blades that claim to clean and repair your wiper blades?

I regularly clean mine with goo gone, even brand new wipers, they always wipe as smooth and quiet as can be.

not sure about using GooGone on wipers, but I know RainX does leave a film on the windshield - was what I was getting at for the OP.

Turns out a little extra elbow grease with the AutoGlym Car Glass Polish did the trick...

Polishing dust shouldn't be that difficult to remove. Is it only "stuck" on the glass? If so, try some bug/tar remover or an APC on newspaper. If that fails, try some clay.
