My car kissed my brick wall
So I overestimated the amount of space I had to turn and my car met my brick wall
I used touch up paint to hide all the black plastic that was showing but its still ugly and noticeable as hell because its all raised and rough (I didnt have time to smooth it out). I was planning on using some 1000 grit sandpaper and lightly sanding down the bumps, then retouching it with touch up paint. Does anyone have any tips, success stories with sanding, or alternative ways to make this eyesore less ugly? also part of it (about a 1 by 2 inch) is slightly pushed in. Is there a way to push it out? Perhaps with heat? Thanks in advance!

If you've never wetsanded and don't have an experienced person to help you, I suggest not practicing on your 335i. Take it to a quality detailer and have them do it. Ask if you can watch if you want to learn. If you do it yourself, you could very easily do more damage than good.

on the other hand, that looks bad enough to warrant a repaint of the bumper. if you're not worried about shelling out about $250 for a repaint, maybe you should try wet-sanding it yourself and learn a thing or two along the way (with the expectation that you're just going to repaint the bumper)

How much would a body shop charge me for something like this? Its a really small area but in a contoured part of my car (near the reflector).

Do you guys recommend a body shop to repaint the whole bumper or a detailer to repair the area itself?

No way to know without seeing it in person. I'd start with a pro-detailer and see what they say. A good detailer will be able to tell you if they can fix it or not.

I've had good luck sanding the rough edges down, build layers of touch up paint, then wet sand it out with 2000 grit slowly. I do have lots of experience with wet sanding, though, so that may make a difference. However, the worst that could happen is you have to let a pro shoot the bumper, so this could be a great learning opportunity. It's worth a shot.

I def think you could wet sand and use some touch up and let it dry and wet sand again and repeat til it looks better but no matter what you're not going to get rid of the the dip in the bumper unless its fully sanded down, filled, and repainted. I say go for it yourself knowing you're going to get it repainted anyway, that way if it doesn't come out the way you want it will get completely redone.
OOORRRR you can just get an mtech bumper

Hehe the problem is I already have an mtech bumper + cf splitters on it.
I've asked around for good body shops/detailers in the california section of the forum but haven't gotten any replies. Anyone know of any good ones in the LA area?

Thats what happened to my 1 month old 335d last year in a parking garage. The guy next to me scraped my rear bumper without knowing (he was still parked next to me).
