Do I have to wash immediately after claying my car?

I just finished the dawn wash and claying process.

My question is, do I have to wash the car with z-7 (i'm using zaino) before going to bed, or can this wait until tomorrow?

I don't plan on driving the car tomorrow and I will be keeping it in the garage.

Thanks.

I don't wash after a clay regardless. Just do an IPA wipedown. It'll be fine in the garage over night.

Whew, thanks. I'm super paranoid about everything since it's a new car.

Do you plan on polishing the car? Cause thats the only reason you should be claying.

You don't have to wash after claying, you can do an IPA wipedown like jopa suggested, but I've never had to. You can go ahead and apply wax/sealant, the car will be fine sitting overnight in a garage.

False. The purpose of claying is to remove contaminants that regular washing will not remove, it has nothing to do with polishing besides the fact that you should always clay before polishing to avoid having contaminants go into your pad and cause swirls.

Usually if I clay, I will detail spray the whole surface to get the clay+lube residue off. Then I seal it the next day, usually because I wash cars at night (it's hot in Arizona!) and so it's late by the time I'm done.

I always do a quick wash after claying, just to be sure that I'm getting all the lubricant off the car before my next step. But, it is not absolutely necessary.

I think he was saying that if you clay you need to polish before wax, if you need to clay then you likely have swirls too so it'd be silly to go to all the work of claying and not polish before you seal/wax

Can someone discuss the IPA wipedown procedure (i.e., how to prepare the IPA solution, tips and tricks, etc.)?

No need to make it more complicated than it is. I buy the 90% IPA from CVS and cut it 50/50 with water (distilled is ideal, regular tap is usually fine too) in a spray bottle. Liberally spray over a panel or two and wipe gently with a clean/quality MF. You'll want to switch to a new dry MF when it gets too wet to adequately absorb all the water/IPA. Shouldn't need more than two or three for the whole car though.

for me...after a clay i usually wash with Optimum No-Rinse

It does a nice job of getting all of the residue off and leaves you ready for next step...either polishing or sealing...

Does the IPA helps in making sure all old waxes/sealants are gone, or does it just remove residue from clay?

Is the dawn wash an effective (and recommended) way of washing car prior to claying and sealing to get rid of old protection?
