Another reflector delete !

Ok guys those reflectors needed to be gone as soon as i got the car !
did it with my 135i and thought i would try it out on this one too

Its pretty simple and takes about an hour ,

Things you will need :

-Nite shades ( spray tints for tail lights ) you can get it from ebay for 15 $
-Paint tape or something similar
- LOTS AND LOTS OF NEWS PAPER !

- Clean your headlights as much as you can from all contaminants

-Then Tape the inside of the headlight leaving 1.5 cm or half an inch between the inside of the reflector and the tape so the tint covers it from all angels ! make sure you tape properly around the edges !

-Tape under the headlight and make sure there is no paint uncovered ! tape tape tape

-Get the newspaper and cover everything else just like in the picture , when you over lap newspaper make sure to tape it as well and just to be on the safe side put more newspaper

Make sure its all nice and pretty

-When spraying make sure to be far ( 30 cm / 12 inches ) so you cover it so lightly so it doesn't drip !!!!! VERY IMPORTANT THIS STEP ! take your time and do it one coat at a time and leave about 5-10 minutes in between each coat

This is one coat

Two coats

-Its a personal preference how dark it is , the darker the more coats you spray , LIGHT COATS !

Almost done now

-When you like what you see wait for it to dry enough to be able to take the tape off , mine took about 35 minutes and slowly and carefully take the news paper off first then the tape around the tints and when your done you should get something like this

you can see the reflector from that angle , thats why you leave the little clearance of clear headlight so it covers it from most angles !

A week later did the rims Gunmetal so if anybody was wondering how they look like there you go ! hope it's helpful .

How many coats did you do total? And is the paint removable? I know some of the Texas state inspection places aren't passing cars if there is any tint on the lights.

Of course it is. Carb cleaner or Goof off will get it off easily.

But you'd have to be careful when near your cars paint

Doesn't look bad, bit dodgy spraying your headlights though.
