Tai Mo Shan

So i took a nighttime run to Tai Mo Shan, as I had never been there before, and heard it was a good route to 'test' the car...

Toke about 10-15minutes to get to the start of the 'track' in tsuen wan -just about enough time to allow the car to warm up.
The route is steep, and twisty, and I am afraid I will make the car do too much work.. Slowly but steadily, the car powers up the hill ... (sorry, have to make some car noises RRRRRRRR) I find that shifting early once the RPMs hit 3500 gives the car more power, although at the cost of some maneuverability. The car drops effortless back to 2600 -right at the start of its power band.
Progressing this way up the hill, we (ok not quite car+person=1 yet) encounter a rapid series of quick turns -this neccesitate the dropping of the gear back down to 3. The rpms hit 3500.. (more car noises please )
We exit the corner at 3000.. step on the gas, but damn, the next quick corner is already here -foot off the pedal, but no brake necessary, working our way into the corner. Feather the pedal again to keep the revs up.. no corner -step on it. RPMs exceed 4000 briefly as I click rapidly (and quite 'pro' feeling I must admit ) the downshift -4 ... the road is quite straight -5...

The initial feeling of apprehension is gone, morphing into excitement, as the lure of the road, with my car panting like a salivitating dog, draws me into this new, curious world where car, man, and road have melded sublimely into one.

By now we have reached the top of the route, and the road heads downward into yuen long..

Ok, so the story continued..

The road had been smooth, almost new - the tarmac was solid black with a fine texture which reminded me of my tires; it seemed only fitting i should consumate the two.
On the way up I had come across a small group of motorcyclists at the end of their run, now the road was quite deserted, and it was obvious i had entered a different realm.
The downward journey began with a sigh of relief from the engine - perhaps a rest was now possible. But not to be. The first corner immediately demanded a cautious approach in 3rd, as man and machine made the adjustment from ascent to descent..

{sorry I am tired, ill write small bits and post them}

The seventeen hundred kilograms, which had been a hindrance, could now be cast aside, and my mind set to focus on the hitherto neglected aspects of the animal which encased me.
Like a horse galloping up an incline. the work against nature could be felt - the animal would tire, time and effort become visible objects. Now the horse's eyes widened at the prospect of fun after the chore.
Passing the first corner at 3000 rpm, the engine had grown suddenly silent though it was still there, and working, if my eyes had not deceived me, but that laborious tone -or perhaps groan- had gone. What was in the foreground was now in the back.
My arms felt freer to move about the steering wheel. I jerked it back and forth to prime the steering response. The next corner, a mild one - I jam the pedal an accelerate mildly out it it. I could feel the car floating gracefully down the gentle mountain path, and for the first time I am concious of the braking action on the next bend. Thats weird I thought, had I not used my brakes up to this point? The shifting of awareness was palpable.
